Hope to fly this weekend,, any trainers available ?
Howdy all
Any update on the field availability this weekend.
Has the council been intouch? Do we need to contact them? or do we wait until they get in contact with us?
No new news.
Procedure is Parramatta Council will advise us when ground is open again.
Based on my previous knowledge with the council and as it's still raining at the moment
I'd say we have no chance of the field being opened this weekend.
You have to remember that we are not just talking about our field but all
fields (soccer, league, afl etc) in the Parramatta district.
Council will be considering the state of all of them before making any decisions.
The Ryde council have a sportsgrounds/ weather notice page which they update regularly. All non-essential soccer games in the Ryde/Hornsby are are off this weekend too.

EDIT: From the Parramatta council website...
Wet Weather Line - 9294 8586
During periods of wet weather, please phone Council’s wet weather information line on 9294 8586 to confirm if fields have been closed.
The use of Council's sporting fields following significant rainfall can damage the playing surface. To ensure that sporting fields are maintained in good condition it is necessary for Council to temporarily close sporting fields until they are again suitable for use. To check if sportsfields in Parramatta are closed following periods of rain, Council has a special wet weather number that is frequently updated with closure information. The line is updated at 3pm weekdays and before 7am on Saturdays . During periods of wet weather, please phone Council’s wet weather information line on 9294 8586 to confirm if fields have been closed.

Sporting users and hirers must observe the closing of the sporting fields, as they are liable for the cost of rectifying any damage as a result of use during periods of wet weather.

I rang the line and all sporting grounds are closed as of 1:15pm. There's going to be an update at 7:00am but with more rain, even if open it might barely be good enough for our hovercraft (yeah, just for fun, we built a dodgy hovercraft out of a lump of styrofoam - not much good on grass but probably ok on our lake Wink ).
You just beat me to it Drew.
Yes as Drew says the wet weather info line still advises that
fields are closed. I believe that the 7am update tomorrow will probably
be concerned with soccer/league/afl fields as we are in the final few weeks of
their competitions and some games are crucial to who makes the finals.
Looks like a weekend of building ahead. Smile
Think of it as a weekend to get building that project that you've been putting off. Or build up brownie points for later Wink
Ok folks just another update to Ground closure.
Council advise that all grounds (2 Exemptions) are closed for weekend.
Next update not scheduled till 3pm Monday afternoon.
That's it back to building .Smile
Well, my weekend improved significantly from last weekend.

I went to visit my index-in-a-tree and only found a scrap of depron on the ground. Further inspectino discovered it safely nestled in the neighbours yard Smile.
We retrieved it and other than a new wing tip, rudder control rod and drying out of the speed controller, everything is fully functinoing and ready to fly.
Naturally, throughout the repaitrs, the model's put on a few more grams so I've given up on this one for an indoor model and have started on the replacement and also fitted "grass wheels" - photos tomorrow.

I've also completed a replacement for my F22 which was still too gutless and heavy even for a 7" prop. I've built a 24" version which weighs almost 400g!!! However, it can overcome its own weight in static loungeroom tests. Soo to be for the chuck tests - now where to find a big enough space with little wind....
Just to advise that latest council advice is that only
Belmore Park is open in the Parramatta district.
All other grounds are still closed.
Next update Thursday afternoon.
The info line now says that "McCoy Park Field no. 1" is open - which I presume means the sporting field up on top of the hill at the western end of the reserve. No specific mention is made of the "basin area" which is what I've seen the rest of the reserve described as somewhere else on the council web site. So ... there we have it.
Probably ok to use the field on weekend although
may not be a good idea to drive in.
We really need that slope to dry out properly.
Council advise caution when using reopened fields as clubs are still
responsible for any damage caused.

Will head down to the field around 9am tomorrow. Haven't been down for a few weeks with the weather and other commitments. Be nice to get airbourne again - weather report looks promising. Not sure what the field's like but we'll see.
Not urgent, but if you're coming down in the morning Steve (samste), could you bring the spare Funjet you have for me. Another project for me to eventually get started on. I think you've (Kieran) got another Lipo for me also, from an order a while back - if you happen to bring it as well - thanks. Will see everyone (that comes) tomorrow.
Will be down Tommorow with With war wounds From Soccer Semi Final Game That i played Tonight.
Lol i survived Thredbo But In pain After soccer.

Will Bring Down Funjets for Con and John and a Spare If anyone Wants one as Well.

Steve Smile
Hi Guys,

I shall be down round 8.30am to open as I have the key from Darren

Con I have your Funjet & will bring it down tomorrow.

Let me know if your coming other wise I leave it @ home.
Between all your hard work on the field, did you anybody get any flying in?
Reason I ask was because from home it looked very windy judging by the
big gum trees around here.
If I had have been intending to go down the field I may have decided to
give it a miss based on what I saw.
I only had a few, it was really gusty - then rang home Marg was really sick.

Took her to the doctors - hope tomorrow is better -
I had fun yesterday in the wind, but am giving today a miss. I've got my neice's christening this arvo. I think Kieran might have some HK parts for me and Steve if you have that spare FunJet I would have to pick it up next Saturday.
Whoever is flying today, have fun Smile
I've had a bad night last night and feel crook today.
Going to give today a miss and stay in bed for awhile.
Have fun folks Smile
Get well soon Paul!
And by the way, you didn't miss much - it was Windy (capital "W" there) and we had to depart in a rush to beat a stormfront. To cap it all off, the bikers were back yesterday afternoon and ripped up the strip again, including over the sections that we did our best to repair yesterday morning Frown Now that we've had a shower of rain, I wouldn't be surprised if they get out there again later today ...
Miserable day for me!

Sadly what goes up quick must come down quick:

[attachment=565]

This was on the remaiden since the extensive repairs Darren & I performed to the nose. Went from a hand chuck straight up, I looped over the top (Not as high as usual) and it went off air, zero roll or pitch. I held the stick back just in case of a reconnect but it never happened, landed nose first quite quickly Wink

[attachment=564]

Equipment is close to a total write off, Motor, ESC & Battery are all beyond repair, servo's might be ok but I wouldn't trust them.
I have a good mind to chuck the Spektrum AR6250 CARBON Fuse RX in the bin.

Interestingly, the carbon work that we did was still intact despite being up front of the impact. Bodes well for future projects
Kizza.............
Sorry to see your hard work undone on remaiden.
Did the wind play a part in it?
Haven't had a chance to try out the motor you loaned me last week,
but think I'll keep it anyway either for the F14 or the Funjet.
Do you want me to pay you or order another one for you in tonight's order?
Either way ok by me. Just let me know.
No wind, totally TX/RX related. I wish I at least dumb thumbed it on a high speed pass but noooo!

Hi Rob,

I have not met you in the field for ages. Have you posted the prop adapters to me? I haven't received them. Let me know please.

Gday Colin

I have had a busy time of late and have been largely out of the country hence no flying time available. I have your parts, we tried to post them however A/Post got narky when we tried to post due to the thickness and didn't have any boxes in stock. Let me know what day you will be at the field this weekend and I will drop them off.

Cheers
