I dont lose any sleep over crashed planes but just wondering if this has happened to anyone. The deceased plane is just a homemade foam 20" 2 oz with brushless motor. I flew the deceased plane in the morning followed by a couple of other planes. Later in the afternoon I went back and flew the deceased plane. I hand launched it and when I got my right hand back on the sticks I pulled full up to do a loop 10 feet off the ground. I know, mistake number one - let it get some altitude first, but I have been flying for 30 years. Anyway instead of doing an inside loop it did an outside loop and was heading right back at me, I cut the throttle and it crashed into pavement 3 feet in front of my toes. I know, mistake number 2 - check controls every flight. Somehow the elevator got reversed in the DX6i for that model. I did not change the setting. I remember this happening a couple of times before where before lauching a plane I noticed that ailerons were mysteriously reversed. Is my TX haunted or is this common with the Spektrum radios?

Here it is folks - not that it was ever in question, but learners can help Gazz down to the pilot's box with his Zimmer frame, and he'll happily impart the fruits of years of knowledge in exchange. What at deal!

Congratulations mate! It's a big plus for someone to repeatedly sacrifice their own flying time and to accept the responsibility of coaching others through the difficult bits. Thumbup

Ok plane dudes, time for this heli flyer to ask some simple questions now that I have T28 (looks nice):

1. The motor is offset on the firewall. It points noticeably "right" when viewed from the tail to front of plane. I am thinking that is a deliberate thing to counteract torque on take-off roll. Pls confirm.

2. The nose wheel mount seems to require me to tighten the screw in pretty hard before it would grip the nose wheel shaft. Anything less and the nose wheel falls out. The flat is the right way round.

3. Any mods any one recommends? The tape on the underside looks like it is not sticky enough and the tape under the leading edge seems to be wanting to peel away. Does anyone uses a stronger tape here?

4. The standard battery is 3S 1800. Anyone squeezed in a slightly higher capacity battery?

5. What flight times would I expect (very approximately) on the standard battery? I will be doing harriers, knife edges, inverted 8's, waterfalls, snap rolls and high speed low passes. Leet (not really).

Dave

Hi all.

I thought I better touch base with you all.

There are 2 reasons why I haven't been at the field for a while..

1. Crappy weather. Smile

2. I injured my shoulder at work in July & have been on worker's comp since then (thank God). I just had an MRI & another visit to the Orthopaedic Surgeon yesterday, and as the topic title says...."Surgery."

It's scheduled for Oct 12th.I may or may not get down to the field before then...I'll see how it goes for a little Heli fly next door to see how the pain is in the "transmitter position".

The prognosis is a guess at the moment, depending on how much work he has to do inside the shoulder. ie: short recovery or long..

If I don't see you guys in person for a while, I will definately be active on the forums & adding smart comments where appropriate (or inappropriate).

As far as flying the real one's go......well I don't think I will be for the rest of the year. As I said, thank God for worker's comp....and drugs. Smile

cheers.

Found this link and thought it would be good to have a post that offers advice on improving ones flying skills with a bit of technical advice.
