I've often pondered getting a model of one of these. It's an interesting plane and quite a successful design in the full size version.
So when this one went up for auction on ebay starting at 99 cents I thought I might keep an eye on it, but some how I accidentally clicked the bid button............................ and well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, it ended up arriving on my doorstep Tuesday morning from super and cheaper.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...K:MEWNX:IT

Here are a couple of Pics of the fuse sitting on my work bench awaiting some attention.

Looking at it's construction it seems very nicely made and remarkably lightly built. All laser cut ply and balsa.

This is the motor I'll most likely be using in it

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...duct=14408

and this is the ESC

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...oduct=8921

It should be quite a good bit of fun to fly with that set up as it will probably work out lighter and more powerfull than the intended powerplant
and the air frame design lends it self to electric power very nicely

I must say the instructions are not that good and there's a mistake in the way they are written so that if you follow them and hinge the elevator before attaching the tail plane you won't be able to put it together at all. Which is a bit silly. I won't be falling for that tho' Smile

There has been growing hysteria in one of the RCGroups forums as Parkzone were warming up to announce their latest offering.

They've changed direction a little and produced the RFC's S.E.5a - apart from the obvious, something which they've drawn attention to is that they've been experimenting with new moulding process which has significantly enhanced the smooth surface of Z-foam. This is really good news and some of the other photographs certainly do show a very slick surface finish which completely belies its foam construction. It remains to be seen how it handles an Aussie summer's heat, but it's an improvement which should be replicated in later models I guess.
Interesting ...

Hi All,
I'm looking at what I need for the OV-10 Bronco EP that I got off Kieran and I've become a little confused about the choice of motors and props. The instruction manual is no help in this area as it simple states that I need 2 brushless motors and props to suit or 2 x 0.15 cu in glow motors.

After googling around the closest model that contains any info that I can find is here at www.Nitroplanes.com.au. I know it's not identical but it seems really close. That website recommends 2 x 400T motors and 8x6 props.

Does anyone know what would the be hobbyking equivilant of a 400t motor or how I can work out which one is the equiv? I had a look at hobbyking and the choice of motors is a little overwhelming.

Secondly, I was thinking maybe of using a 3 bladed prop to look more closer to the real one. Any idea on what an equivilant 3 bladed prop might be? Also, any idea where I can get them from as all the 3 bladed props at hobbyking seem to be on backorder.

Finally, I'm gonna need 6 servos. Any suggesiton for a digital servo that is any good but I'm not gonna have to take out a second morgage or sell my first born child to afford half-a-dozen of them?

Thanks all in advance
Mick

After putting a few batteries through the Wildcat today, I took our PZ P-51D up for a run ... oh dear, it seemed really lame on the stock power-train.

So, it was back home this afternoon and out with the tools - time for a Turnigy 3536C to be installed. Wasn't difficult and I used the standard dodgy "pseudo mount" technique of using some 25mm M3 bolts as standoffs. It doesn't look all that neat and it might be a little heavier than a customised aluminium mount, but the advantage is that you get controllable variation in the standoff distance ... and it's inexpensive Wink It requires a little care to ensure that the thrustline off the firewall is preserved, but "it ain't rocket science".

I decided it was as good a time as ever to attach a liteply brace across the narrow neck that joins the two halves of the elevator too. Been meaning to do this for weeks (... months) since Paul brought it to my attention. With an uprated power-train, it was now overdue.

Decided to put the stock T-28 propeller on it - that gives another 1.5 inches of pitch over the original 9x6 and won't cost very many electrons. It's a pretty conservative upgrade, but worth a try - chocks away tomorrow morning!

Well they have finally arrived.
Kev's and my new Stumax EDF's for our Temora Jets.
These babies will produce over 3000Watts 4.5Kg thrust
running on 8s batteries.
With that great "Turbine" like sound.

We are very happy chapies...Smile

A simple depron foamie.
Having a spare motor (the stock one I removed from my fun jet) I thought I make a quick and simple foamy. One that's easy to fly nice and light with heaps of dihedral. Something to give my 9 year old daughter a bit of a go at RC flying with when she comes to stay with me. Obviously it had to be super stable and fly nice and slow.
So after a an hour or so doing cad drawings in between other tasks during the week I printed them off Thursday morning and and here's the result.

It's a pusher in an attempt to try an ensure that there is a little crumple zone before the motor and prop bit the turf. Not that that will ever happen Hahahahahahahaha Smile

Here's a pic I didn't take any of the build as I was in a super hurry I think it took about 3 1/2 hours to build her from scratch including the control horns and push rods

here's a pic

Hi everyone,

OK, I want to become a member to fly. What's the best way to go about it? I understand that MANNSW membership goes from June - June (or July, can't remember!) so do I wait until then to join up or do I need to pay that now? Do they have a 'temporary' policy whilst waiting for the renewal date? What's the deal? Confused

Thanks for any help you can offer,

Cheers,

Graham Smile

My brother Chris, God bless him, has just bought me a Birthday pressie...A HobbyKing F4 Phantom EDF!!!

Isn't he a darling?? As if I don't have enough stress in my life what with helis, a Spitfire, and all...he now wants to add to it with this jet thingamajig!

Anyway, I'm not going to let it beat me..I have put it all together, run it up.....it certainly doesn't need a sound system, it comes with one pre-installed in the form of a 70mm high speed rotating fan "speaker". Smile

Weather, wife and kids permitting, I will be out there on Sat or Sun this week to give her a go.

Tips, advice, sniggers and laughter all welcome. Photos and videos a must! I will be bringing my new professional HD video to get everyone's prides and joy.

I went in there today and was pleasantly surprised. Stuart Kent, the owner, has expanded the shop upstairs leaving more space downstairs for RC stuff.

He has expanded his range of aircraft..ARF RTF BnF, and helis..thunder tiger. He now has a large range of battery connectors, XT60's Deans, Bullet etc, he is getting a range of batteries, HK.

He knows he can't compete directly with HK, but for convenience, he should do well. His prices certainly have dropped now that he has expanded, so that can't be a bad thing.

I'm not affiliated with him or his shop in any way, but I just wanted to save you a drive to caringbah or Liverpool. Smile

The shop is in Victoria Rd Castle Hill.

From what i understand, when you purchase something from HK, the product activates a buddy code whereby when used by others whom you have notified, they get a massive discount and you get credit added to your account.
The buddy code is only valid for 14days after the original purchase.

Would this be a thread worth starting where members post their buddy codes with the date of expiry for others to use?

Example of mine that are valid now;

TGS Sport 12x8E Precision propeller
TURNIGY Plush 60amp Speed Controller
TGS Sport 11x8.5E Precision propeller
The above expiring on Firday 13th May.
