I thought I would start a new thread for people who have questions or need advice on which prop they should be using in specific applications.
So I'll be the bunny...
Steve
Can you post a link for the site where you get your mega pitch props from.
I need a 13 x 12 or better prop for my PC9 upgrade, the only ones I can find are from Esprit model in the USA, they do an Aeronaut Cam 13 x 12 for $12 which is a pretty good price but I would rather get one local if I can. I would like a 13 x 14 but as far as I can asertain they dont exist. I would really like to use a 14 x 12 but ground clearance negates that option, I am already tearing the tips off my 13 x 8's at Area 51.
So after I put the big Hacker in the best thing I can find to give me warp drive performance is the 13 x 12

Well i've outdone myself. Destroyed 2 of my HK jets in as many days. First was the T-33 i built as a kit with Don's 50mm Wicked wemo with 6000kV- 50 seconds into its second flight i flew it smack bang in the middle of a tree. Takes skill i can tell ya.
Its rooooooted. Saved the EDF battery and rx, rest it toast.Rolleyes

L-39 my favourite little 50mm 2 days later. Went behind my 2 big trees and skilfully destroyed itself from the LE forward. Pretty happy ehLol

So ordered 1 more of each cause i can.

Think ill add some kills to my sigBiggrin

Hi guys,

I've started window shopping for an electric glider for a(nother) possible UAV project. Perhaps in the 7-9 ft wingspan range. Built up construction a must (kit would be ideal). Capable of taking a good deal of extra weight, but not necessarily built for speed - high Lift/Drag critical.

Perhaps something along the line of this: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...r_KIT.html

... if it was twice the size, and had a motor pod.

Anyone have any suggestions from previous research or experience?

Requirements too ambiguous? Smile

Just thought I'd show all of you who slept through
this morning's eclipse what you missed.
The moon played hide and seek with the clouds during the eclipse
but luck was with me and I managed to get a few shots.
Here is the total eclipse phase.

It really was a beautiful sight.

Hi,
I'm trying to work out what the Brushless equivalent is to the Speed 400 brushed motor. I need one for my next project that I'm building. The closest I've come is a suggestion on RC Groups of the C2028 Micro brushless Outrunner from Hobbyking but as is typical of the, it is outta stock.

So, any suggestions for an equilivent brushless, or does anyone have anything suitable laying around their junk boxes that they wanna donate to a worthy cause for a small cost?

Thanks
Mick

I thought in the absence of enough other projects, I might build a semi-scale model of this plane. The air frame is totally scratch built mostly ESP foam along the lines of the Zero but a little bigger at 1.1 meter span.

Working from these 3 views

It's early days yet but here is the wing so far. It still needs to be cut and swept back and dihedral added

Reminder of the swap meet at PEMAC on Sat 3rd Dec. See note from PEMAC below:

Hi all, just a reminder that our Fun-Fly and swap meet is this coming Saturday. I just had a look at the weather forecast and it looks good. 22 degrees and relatively light winds with little chance of rain.

All flyers must register to fly ($5) and have their MAAA membership card with them. Pilots are to set up in the pits area. If you have a portable shade shelter you can set it up inside the pit area next to the fence (so its easier to secure it to the public safety fence with some rope). Don't forget to bring a good hat and some sun screen!

The last swap meet was very well attended so additional parking will be made available in the heli area. Drinks and sausage sandwiches will be available at a nominal price.

This promises to be a great flying day and we're sure there will be plenty of bargains on offer as members do some late spring cleaning of their workshops.

Cheers

Mark

I recently came across "Bright Hobbies" based in Silverwater, through an eBay purchase.
Things were pretty slick - I bought and paid for an eBay item online, got free postage as standard and received a well-packaged perfect item two days later.

The guy who runs the shop is Joe Taylor and he sells through his online store (http://www.brighthobbies.com.au/store/) at prices that are pretty much mainstream, but also lets stuff go on eBay at reduced prices. He runs lucky draw prizes and discounts for club members as long as there's a certain number of club members who register on his website.

Thought I'd pass this information on - I haven't actually met Joe in the flesh (and I'm not being rewarded in any way for this post) but his eBay dealings are very good compared to most LHS's.
