Claudio Put me on to this machine, I'd been admiring his one for a while, it certainly looked like a realy nice flying model.

I didn't realise just how nice it was until Claudio gave me a go on the sticks. I must say I was SUPER IMPRESSED !!
The opportunity to have a fly of this lovely model came only shortly after they became available at HK's AU warehouse. Well it was a no brainer for me, just buy one and ask Claudio what gear he used to set his up.........Perfict !!

I'm so glad I did It has to be one of the nicest flying 3D models I've flown. It's very light which is what really makes a 3D plane, a 3D plane. It's so light that a 3S 2200 Pack will make it go vertical with authority. That's impressive for it's not, by any means, a small model, spanning 1220mm.

The guys at Precision Aerobatics better pull their fingers out because this machine is snapping right at their heels as far as 3D performance is concerned and it's only a fraction of the cost.

Mind you it's not balsa and carbon like the PA planes, however it is cleverly designed with a ply chassis surrounded by a formed EPP foam sheet skin. It's not only very tough but ridged enough to fly pretty solidly too.

I do know it's tough because I extracted mine from a tree after it's maiden flight was abruptly interupted. I banged it out of the branches using two lengths of 2" PVC pipe joined together, it was a rather rude arboreal extraction to say the least, culminating in an 8m near vertical decent directly into the ground.

The carnage was amazingly minimal with sustaining only a two slight tears from the rescue and some damage to the elevator and broken elevator hinges caused by the initial crash. It was repaired in 15 mins and had it's second straight after. The somewhat embarrassed pilot being more than a little more cautious this time.

I had two more flights with it late Satterday afternoon at McCoy field and a futher 8 flights on Sunday in Very nice conditions. I can honestly say that it's a plane that flys so nicely you should never crash it, but it's forgiving nature really tempts you push the envelope so beware. Smile

It harriers so nicely and it will hover indefinatly if the air is not too lumpy.

One thing I did do was, paint the ply structure, forward of the spar tube with West Epoxy resin to toughen it up. The extra 30 grams of weight and the 20 mins it takes is well worth it !!

Ok, I have too many RTFs, ARFs so it’s time I built my own.
Yes I don’t have a lot of time on my hands, so it will be a slow progress, but I thought I'll give it a go.
I had a plan for a Supper constellation for the last 2 years and I finally decided to do it.

I'm currently experimenting and will decide as I go a long but the plane so far:
1/24th Scale (1.55m wing span 1.47m long)
Most build will be mainly Depron and Balsa for structural support.
I'm thinking to glassed it with fine cloth and water based varnish.
Finish it off with gloss white and Silver spray paint.
Ordered the Qantas decals
Motors, ESCs, Props and retracts on the way from Hobby King.
Will need help with possibly vacuum moulding the cowls (if anyone offers a helping hand) or cut them out of something like peanut butter plastic jars...

Any tips along the way will be greatly appreciated.

The progress so far.

A challenging question for you all.

My hangar has 5 planes - 3 of which are ultra-micro (t-28 UM, Beast, Stryker), plus 2 larger trainer style aircraft (parkzone trojan and smuzz's old BluBaby). I am thinking of adding another plane to the hangar to celebrate getting bronze wings, something that isnt ultra micro.

What do you all suggest?

Hi guys,
I thought I'd post this for those of you that haven't seen it, this is a Yak 130 built for the World Jet Masters 2013.
The bench mark has now been set for detail, not sure if it can get better than this!

Its quite windy .
I was on QF430 from Melbourne today. We were well warned it was going to be a rough ride in. A full 767 we came in over the Eastern suburbs. Only a hundred feet to go its too much, and we are out of there. They have some go when they need it , flaps and gear in about three seconds.
I could see a few shaking thumbs messaging on the phones as I was waiting to get off.
In my short air travel history I've had a alternate landing due to storms and now a go round!

Somebody keeping Smuzz company at the field today left their fold up chair behind. I have brought it home with me & will bring it to the field next Saturday.

hi , thought i would start a thread on your/our never ending need for planes on the RC spectrum .

i have a wishlist that i'm yet to achieve . my theory for myself is that i need . a practice 3D plane . which i have 3 .

a couple of rare bears , for funfly pylon which i have .

ON THE WISHLIST . I NEED .

a good war bird : i'm thinking of a HK A1

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store..._PNF_.html

a decent edf jet : i'm thinking of a taft viper

http://www.pw-rc.com/product_info.php/cP...8f7ecf1818

and an ef1 pylon racer . : i'm thinking of the sundowner .

http://www.hangar-9.com/Products/Default...ID=HAN4520

this will give me a foamy 3d practice flyer , a 50 size 3d powerhorse mx2 3d flyer , a 70 inch edge 540 3d big bird , 2 rarebaer funflyer pylon racers . a giant 1600 wingspan warbird . a nice jet sounding edf , and a true EF1 spec pylon racer .

i'm sure the bug will venture out as well . thinks like flight recorder cams etc . but so far my wish list is alive and well

Hi All,
For my next project I'm looking for some Transparent Heat Shrink covering film preferably in red however I'd consider other colours. I know Hobbyking sells Covering Film Transparent RED (5mtr) 201 which is exactly what I want. The problem is that the roll cost around $9 but the shipping is over $25!

Does anyone know of a source for this film that is more cost effective? I'd prefer to get it from an online source as my opportunities to travel to pick it up are limited (Flat out trying to get to my local Bunnings to pick up some Balsa!). HobbyKing Australia are happy to charge me only $9 to ship but they don't have any Transparent colours, only the solid ones.

Thanks
Mick
