It's all on again in 2014 !!!

Nowra is the first race day of the NSW Pylon 2014 series, It's a chance to get in on the ground floor and begin at the start of the year.
It would be great to have a large contingent from PRCAC compeeting again in 2014!!
We made our presence felt last year and everyone who took part had a great time. One BRILLIANT thing about pylon racing is that it really sharpens up your flying! I certainly builds confidence and there's no substitute for the experiance gained in competition!! What this means is that everyone is a winner and takes something home. All those from PRCAC who flew pylon last year would have noticed their flying and confidence improve out of sight. I know mine did.

The NSW Pylon crowd are a great bunch of guys and pilots new to pylon are allways welcome and encouraged to come allong and have a go. Pylon racing is very entertaining to watch, there's plenty of high speed action and the oppertunity to cheer on our guys and wave the PRCAC flag shold not be missed.

Here's a copy of an email I recieved yesterday, from Ian, the secretary of the NSW pylon association.

Gentlemen
This is a reminder that the first round of our 2014 Pylon Racing Championship starts Sunday the 2nd of March,
with the usual Practice on the Saturday. A number of us have booked into The Marriott Park Motel already, this
is the same Motel that we have been staying at for the last 3 years.

Don,t forget the host Club will be putting on Breakfast + Lunch on Race day.

Here's some video from Nowra last year. It's the only bit I have, it show's Jag flying about as good a FFC race as you could hope to fly. It's well worth a watch just to see how it's done, when it's done nicely !! Note the precision around two and three, despite the fact that there's a decent breese blowing as well.

G’day all,

just a quick warning that there is a European Wasp’s nest near the back of the facroty units (see map)
Please be careful if you happen to be in this area. European wasps are highly aggressive and can deliver a very painful sting. They have been known to attack on mass if they are disturbed and in such cases hospitalisation of the victim and even worse has occurred.
Here is a rough map showing the location of the nest, Parramatta City council has been informed and have inspected the area, confirming that they are European wasps and will have a their pest destruction people come out and deal with them in the not too distant future.
In the meantime please let people know to be very careful to stay away from them. They can be particularly nasty creatures
For more info on European wasps follow this link

Here's where they are

Hi All,
Looking at my next Project, another RCM&E plan. It's a simple quick build canard plane called a Can-Doo.

It uses the PPB-2824-1300 motor which is from some mob in England. I was wondering if anyone could suggest an equivalent low cost motor from our mates at HobbyKing or elsewhere that'd do the same job.

Thanks
Mick

Howdy guys
As you all know we are moving and I still have a few aircraft that need new homes.
I still have an almost new (only had 6 flights) Dualsky XM5050CA-8 575kv 5S motor with a Dualsky 80amp speedie connected for $100.
The Seagull Super Tucano is BNF a steal at $500, you just need a 6S 5000 mah 25C battery and you are away.
The Flash T Carbon Hotliner might still be available if Steve B doesn't want it.
The super fast Skyfun Scorpion is a missile BNF, just add a 4S 3300 40C battery.

This new thread has been started in the General section of the forum so it is accessible to non PRCAC members who will be attending or thinking of attending the Aus week end Fly-In. Status details and event details will be posted here.

Contingency planning. Currently the weather is not looking the best for our field and for flying on Saturday. An inspection of the field today showed water pooling in the known low spots. The weather forecast for Friday is predicting rain and that would make the situation worse.

Keep watching this thread for updates on the status of our Fly-In. If the field become too water logged the Committee will reschedule the event to happen most likely in one or two weeks. There will be another inspection of the field on Thursday afternoon.

The Secretary

Hi guys,
Looking for a little something different to do or build?

Why not build and fly a free flight scale model, it can be as simple or complicated as you want it to be. Power source can be electric, small Diesel engine or rubber power.

The New South Wales Free Flight Society is hosting there annual scale rally and Trans Tasmen event on the 5th and 6th of July 2014. There will be guys coming from interstate as well as overseas for this event, all are welcome to attend and have a fly.

If anyone is interested in having a go and building something, I'm here to help with anything from basic advice, plans, tissue, engines, rubber, electric systems and anything else, I can sort you out with everything.

Here are a couple of pics of a model I'm working on at the moment. It is a Lacey M10 with a wingspan of 26 inches and will be rubber powered.

Also some pics from last years event.

Okay guys this might sound like a really stupid question, however, I want to buy a Car Battery to charge my lipos at the field.
Is there anything special I need to know as in obviously 12volt, but Amps or whatever? Any ideas where to pick up a reasonably priced one?
