Hi All,
It's gonna be a little while before i can fly again as I managed to break my hand last week so I was gonna have a go setting up my gyro in my trojan just for something to do.
In the trojan is an AR5000 and it has 2 spare sero connecters.. 1 is marked Gear and the other is marked AILE
My gyro has an On/Off control that would connect to one of these and allow me to turn it on or off with one on the switches on my DX7.
My question is if i connect this to say the GEAR connector, how do i connect/bind it to either the GEAR or AUX switch on my radio?
Thanks
Mick
Originally I purchased an EGO brand F4U which came as a RTF kit, complete with RX/TX, battery and charger. Compared to that which we pay for models these days that was a very expensive excercise, however I have to say that EGO make a good plane.
The HobbyKing F4U that I purchased was if fact a clone of the EGO model with a couple of exceptions and a third of the price. The motor/ESC were HobbyKing equivalents and the fin/rudder and stabiliser/elevator were not made from a rigid plastic as on the original EGO version but were made from foam like the rest of the model.
The motor setup I chose to replace the standard one was a Turnigy 2217 1050kV outrunner, Tower Pro Mag8 30A ESC and a TGS 10 x 5 sport prop. See the links below:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store..._Outrunner
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...Controller
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store..._propeller
With this setup I get 6 minute flights from a 1300mA 3S 20-25C battery and this does not caine the battery, however when the batteries that I have die I intend on replacing them with a 30C and the planes performance should significantly increase. The current draw is 21 amps at full throttle.
Anyone ever have to solder a charge plug back onto a battery?
One of my batteries has 2 of the 4 charge plug cables come off
the battery.
Had a little peek inside the battery and it looks like all that needs
is a bit of solder and she will be ok again.
Not being real expert with fine soldering I'm wondering if anyone
here would be willing to fix for me.
I'm guessing that it would be an easy job for someone who knows what they're doing.
hey guys,
are any of you using any other type of battery connectors other than deans? I'm not really a fan of deans, they sometimes hard to pull apart and when you solder them there isn't much tab area and the plastic insulator sometimes melts. Any of you using any crimp connectors or other types of solder ones? If so, are you getting them locally or HK?
Cheers
Hi all,
Put this date in your diary - 18th & 19th Sept 2010.
The RAAF are putting on an airshow at Williamtown and the list of planes that will be on display is very impressive.
The new F18 Super Hornet will be demonstating its capabilities and the F-111 will be saying it's sad farewell. There will also be others from the RAAF and the Navy Air Wing, plus Temora Aviation museum is sending up a number of its warbirds, F86 Sabre, Meteor, Spitfire and Mustang. Not to be outdone the HARS is a sending up a Super Constellation, Catalina and Dakota, there is something to suite everyones tastes.
So who is interested in going up? Me!!!!!
I'm thinking of making a weekend of it, possibly going up Friday afternoon or very early Saturday morning and coming home Sunday afternoon once I have seen the bulk of the air displays.
See the attached web sites for more info;
http://www.airforce.gov.au/airshows/
http://www.proticket.com.au/event.asp?eventid=669
It reminds me of the good old days of Schofield's (Mirage's doing high speed passes) & Richmond (F15 going vertical from a slow pass) Bi-Centenial airshows.
Can't wait!!
Chris
PS. Thanks Aron for mentioning this event to me a couple weeks ago.
Gday all,
I have just seen some "Genuine" Spektrum 2.4 GHz receivers for $18 US shipped. They have the AR 6100 and the AR6100e at www.koko-rc.com.cn
Any ideas, thoughts, concerns, warnings etc etc will be gratefully accepted.
Thanks.
Andrew.
A little off topic I know but how about
going for a ride on this.

Hi Guys,
Found this whilst browsing, very interesting & useful.
Enjoy
Hello fella's,
I'm looking for parts to complete my new catalina. I haven't ordered from Hobbyking before and wondered what you guys have experinced regarding quality. I know the prices are very attractive but someone once said to me 'but cheap buy twice'! I've located the motors, ESC's, battery and servos that would work. Is there anything I should avoid going cheap on or is it pot luck? I was thinking whether it is a good idea to not scrimp on the servo's and go for something a bit more proven. Lots of the servo's don't have any reviews which worries me!
Thanks for any info,
Simon
