A few of the guys were talking last weekend about storing planes and I mentioned one idea I saw using PVC pipe. The link takes you to the build page with a specification sheet for construction.

What a bargain at only $75!!

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store..._ARF_.html

This a copy of an ARF that came out quite some time ago.
It mite even be a revised version from the original manufacturer.

I'm not sure if you remember, but Steve Hasset had an electric powered one that he took out for a fly between races on our Willows Cup Pylon day. It certainly had head turning performance and is a nice flyer. I saw it fly at Maitland fun fly/pylon days as well.

Here's a Video of Ians one. You can see what a nice well mannered and forgiving sports model it is. Ians is powered by a thunder tiger 46 glow engine and I think the canopy parted company with the fuse some time back. Steve's electric version has a much healthier power to weight ratio. Same air frame only the HK version Has the under carage is slightly different, the wheels are mounted under the wings.

I was asked Today what to use to reduce Photo Size of Images, Re for Photo for Membership to below 750kb

I Use Vso Image Resizer and have been for years, a free Program that can reduce all your Images.

As i take 2.5 mb pictures and reduce then to approx 250kb for uploading to forum or work images to be sent via email.

There are many types out there if you google but i found this to be the easy to use as i just right click photo file and scroll to image resize and its gives me a copy of the original at a reduced size.

Just remember when installing free programs to un tick all the extras that they try and install such as toolbars software etc.

I do have and old free version of the Image resizer software version 2.01 from vso which i have not updated as it works perfect and does not ask for upgrading to pro everytime you close the program as this was owned by vso and distributed free and then taken over by another company which still gives it for free but wants you to install tool bars etc upon app install and asks to upgrade all the time when closing app.

Hi Guys,

I was wondering what the Clubs Policy was on Solo Flying, before being granted Bronze Wing Status.

I have been told, rightly or wrongly, that Solo Flying can only be made once Wings were obtained.

There are Clubs around that allow Beginner Pilots Solo Flying once a qualified (???) member has assessed the Pilots Flying ability. Is this the case at our Club?

You must also take into account that on some days the number of Instructors at the field, at one time, is minimal and therefore a new pilot, may over a period of 4-5 hours at the field, only recieve 6-12 minutes, if that. As a newbie I can appreciate that Instructors want to fly themselves, and fully agree. However, at the same time we are forced to go "park flying" just to get some badly needed air time to practice manouevers. This of course poses inherrent risk of interference of people using the parks at the time and of course not being covered by Insurance.

Does the Club ever have "Instructor Days" dedicated to Pre Bronze Wing Pilots, for training Pilots?

Do us newbies get a Flight Book to monitor our progress when being taught by another Instructor whom we have not flown with before?

I am more than happy to be a Member at PRCAC and am very grateful for the help I recieve when asking q's about flying, and my models, and am also happy to take "baby steps" when it comes to flying at McCoy but would appreciate the feedback. Many thanks in advance.

What better way to end the Finantial year than a bit of RareBear Racing!!

Nowra Field is available to all classes, obviously there is no noise restrictions so there will be some Awsome fast IC machines to be seen flying.

Will SRL be tempted to shake the mothballs out of his F-400 for this one ????

If your thinking of going, post up here, you might be able catch a lift or car pool with someone.

New flyers are allways made most welcome, there will be a BBQ lunch and some great raceing too.

Practice on Saturday racing on Sunday. There may be some Racing on Saturday afternoon if there's a good turnout in numbers

The field at Nowra is Excellent, roomy and obsticle free with a Paved runway as well. It's a sensational field to fly at !!

Directions to Nowra are as follows:

Heading south on the Princes Highway about 120km from Sydney into Nowra. After crossing the Shoalhaven River Travel 2.6km and turn right into Kalandar Street. Travel west next to the cemetery for 350m to the roundabout and turn left into Albatross Road. Travel approx 1.7km to the entrance to the Greyhound Track on the left. Follow the signs in.

I had the good fortune to visit the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society at Illawarra today. Many might know this place and have been there. I didn't know about it.

I went there at their invitation for work reasons regarding temperature control and data acquisition systems on their heat treatment processes but was given a tour of the hangers 1:1 and blown away!! I had a black and white poster on the back door of my bedroom as a young kid of all the RAAF aircraft (think 70s)-- and there they were in flesh (albeit 40 years later!).

Very impressive collection of planes - many airworthy and flying. Their website is http://hars.org.au/

I had only my phone so excuse the quality of the photos. I had no idea how my day was going to unfold so I wasn't prepared. I didn't have a lot of time so it was a whirlwind look. I must go back sometime.
