Can anyone Recommend a good robust Trainer for me? I have never flown R C Before, so am open to ALL advice.
Went to Hobbies in the Hills today for some help, VERY DISAPPOINTED, I spoke to an elder staff member, once I said I was a beginner and I flew Mode 2. I was abruptly informed that "we" fly Mode 1 in "this" country, and ignored from then. I do NOT believe that I will Deal there again.

The service at Hobbies in the Hills was the WORST I have had since venturing into this sport.

for sale is my REBEL 70MM EDF 4 CELL JET . IT'S THE SAME AS A HABU .
i'm selling it is a package , there is nothing wrong with it , except it has had the nose cone re glued on after it broke off when i was learning to land it . i'm throwing in the front of an old stinger , which is a better nose cone epo with hard plastic cone . so if you break off the nose cone you have a spare which is better , it has a fibroglassed front ( the stinger) you'd just simply cut off nose and glue on if needed .
it also comes with a brand new HK 6CH 2.4G RADIO AND RECEIVER . UNUSED .
AND A 4S 2200MAH ZIPPY flight battery .
80 bucks all up . or $90 if you want a 2nd battery .

i'm going up to the $400-$600 edf planes and have no further use for this edf .
it is a great introduction to edf + you get a tx , receiver, and battery pack

was at pemac today watching a sukhoi F35 twin 70 EDF thrust vectoring unit ripping through the sky when all of a sudden it went deadstick . it flew on a downward straight path for about 200mteres before it hit the ground . inspecting the wreckage with the owner we found the 6s 5000 mah battery 4mm bullet had de soldered and come off in flight .
the owner says that it was pulling around 130 amps on 6s the esc had its own bec Shock.
and this is the 2nd time it's happened to him . no shit !
anything over 70 amps and i think a seperate bec would be a very good idea . perhaps 6mm bullet plugs and 10 aw wire too .
i use deans t connectors , so i normally cut the bullets off and solder deans t connectors on . which brings me to the next point , if your using batteries as they come ' i'd be putting a little extra solder of my own on the plugs . a lot of batteries have minimal solder applied to the plugs at factory .

just wanted to point out that i seen it with my own eyes . the solder melted away .

Parramatta City Council has planted some small shrubs on the embankment near the corner of Graces Car Park. (well past the western end of the strip) The Committee asks that club members be careful if retrieving aircraft over in that area not to disturb them. They are clearly visible, there is a square of mulch around each plant.

Yes, we're Parramatta Radio Control Aircraft Club, but I met up with Mickey T out at the NSW FF Scale Championships last weekend and it was way more interesting than I'd expected it would be.

There was quite a variety of flying machines on display, because a couple of other delayed competition events were also rolled into the weekend. There were tiny little nitro and diesel machines, all the way up to .40-sized models.

One of the classes that I didn't know much about was F1C gliders - these things have powerful 2-stroke nitro/glo powered motors and roar to altitude almost vertically for a set number of seconds, before switching off (under the control of a timer) and beginning their endurance pattern. Really very intricate and technical stuff, constructed from high-end materials. Mick sent me some photographs of some assemblies manufactured in the Ukraine, as examples. You can just see the top of the motor head in the first shot, with the glo-plug protruding and there are no mufflers at all. The exhaust is vented out the angled CF tube - these machines absolutely scream ...

I've got to admit, that I completely underestimated this entire field of aeromodelling - it's challenging in that you've got to ensure the configuration and trim is just perfect, before lobbing it whereupon you can do nothing but watch!

Well as most of you would have read . the maiden day of the YAK 55M didnt go to well , and on the 4th flight . it lost signal in air and gave the earth a bit of a rumble .
i managed to salvage all of the hardware . and my good mate Raptorfly ( George felt sorry for me and offered me a bargain he won on ebay that i just couldnt resist ) a GOLDWING EDGE 540 - SAME AS GARY'S .
Totally different plane and different build . i really couldnt fault the YAK 55M . but it needed more build time and work than the EDGE 540 .
THE EDGE 540 i think will be atleast 500grams lighter in the air . the YAK WAS 5.5KG . I'M HOPING TO SEE THE YAK AT UNDER 5KG . I'M TRYING TO BUILD THIS SUCKER AS LIGHT AS POSSIBLE . the only unnecessary weight i added was a switch and wiring at 64 grams , i'll be running it without the wheel pants and have added light weight wheels , which takes off 148 grams and one less servo which takes off 70 grams .
i set it up with the old switch that failed on the yak . and just gave the switch a wobble and bingo . it lost power .
i fitted an RC heavy duty switch which i got from hobby's in the hills foir $20 bucks . mate i hope it dont let me down . it just needs battery tray nade up and batteries fitted for C OF G , and it will be ready for a weigh in and a maiden . pics to come . i think another days work on it tomorrow and it will be totally ready for flight .

Hi Guys
Just wanted to let everyone know that both Kev and I have
gone over to the "dark side" and now fly IC powered aircraft.
In the near future we will also be getting a turbine.
As as result we will not be renewing our membership at PRCAC.
We just want to wish everyone well and maybe one day we may come down
to McCoy with an electric plane and ask to fly as a visitor.
We have enjoyed the time we spent at McCoy and the friendships we
have made.
Clear skies to everyone and safe flying.
Regards
Paul
