The field was surprisingly good today. A bit slow to take off due to the grass, but considering the amount of rain we've had lately, she was terrific.

I was looking at coming down tomorrow (Boxing Day) to open at around 8AM but based on recent experiences, I would think that the current rain has squelched any chance of the field being usable for the...

Dropped by the field this arvo with the kids so Santa could wrap presents. It looks like the idiot trail bike riders have been at it again. Not a good arvo for flying anyway... Too windy.

I like my Turnigy 9xr, which I bought because my budget wouldnt stretch to the Taranis at the time. It's fine, but I had a couple of issues with it. I'm not saying you'll have the same issues as me, b...

I'm toying with the idea of taking my new Skipper tomorrow. I might even bring a lawn mower whilst I'm at it :D

The Australia Express channel is the cheaper one, and that price sounds about right for a whole plane. Not sure if you'll get it by Christmas but who knows...

Up to my 58th order with Hobbyking so far and I've only had major delays once, and that was when they had to urgently start pushing packages through Fiji due to some customs issues. Other than that, ...

I have a DX6i and a Turnigy 9XR. If I was just getting into the hobby, I'd definitely get a Taranis. The 9XR is a very good radio but the Taranis has everything you could ever need for not much more...

I dropped by there last week. Good service. Pretty small shop but they had a couple of rows of plane parts. Plenty of Hobbyzone, some Hangar 9 and some Parkzone stuff too.

I'd say 1/10th of stuff all ??? Except for quads, helis or sea planes perhaps. It was looking OK until that last downpour...

Wonder how it looks today... I bet it's saturated. I suspect flying will be out of the question this weekend, and maybe even next weekend if the current tropical weather patterns continue.

Damn, I was going to order a Skipper last week too. Now it won't arrive until next week, and it would be perfect for McCoy right now.

Yep, I'm going. Penrith for me on Sunday if I can get a day pass.

Looks really useful, I wonder if you could discharge in parallel? Ie. using a parallel charging board, in order to discharge a bunch of lipo's at the same time, in parallel. Saves having to discon...

Yep, it's not looking good for tomorrow. Provided the strip can soak up the predicted rain, Sunday sounds like the go.

That's the one - Q-Cel. I use Q-Cel for fibreglass repairs. I have found it to be very good. It doesn't impact strength all that much - I have used it to fix jetskis from surf and impact damage over...

I'll probably come down at about 12.30-ish Update: Bugger, sorry Wayne, just got smashed with an urgent deadline. Have fun down there anyway!

Depending on the fracture/crack, I would consider epoxy with microballoons/inorganic microspheres mixed in with it, as Jason suggested. The more microballoons you put in, the lighter it'll be.

Presumably we should bring gloves, shovels, mattocks and associated items again ?

Pete and I visited the field today. It's in surprisingly good condition! [hr] Flying Fisho's soil has held its ground... [hr] A bit of water on the Grace end of the strip, but it's avoidable I...

Thanks gentlemen. I have a spare concertina toolbox which I could line with something and sit on top of bricks (to get it off the timber floor), and also a bunch of ceramic pots lying around, so will...

Hi Joseph, thanks for the response. I have a good charging setup already. Just upgraded to an XD4, and I always balance them. I can't use the fibreglass sacks any more. They give me a rash as I...

Anyone heading down for a flight today? Now that I'm working at Norwest these days, I'm thinking of heading down for a bit of flying at lunchtime if nothing unexpected comes up before then.

Might be time for someone to come up with some detachable pontoons for sea plane-style landing when the runway is flooded.

It was damned windy out there this morning. I left early and noticed that the wind had dropped off just after leaving, but it now appears to have picked up again. Gusts up to about 50km/h in my area....

It's going to be windy tomorrow Bob... So you're not missing out on much. Stay safe and get well soon.

'twas a good day today, although the wind was strong, there was good flying to be had. It's just a shame that July has become a windy month ! Hopefully things calm down a little soon.

I bet the runway is soggy too...

Looked great today Wayne, thanks for getting there so early and getting the field fixed. If it weren't for the lack of grass, you wouldn't even know there had been damage.

I take it that the field would more than likely be pretty waterlogged after today's rain?? And that it'd be too wet for flying tomorrow?? Forecast doesn't look too good anyway, but one can hope.
