I recently came across "Bright Hobbies" based in Silverwater, through an eBay purchase.
Things were pretty slick - I bought and paid for an eBay item online, got free postage as standard and received a well-packaged perfect item two days later.

The guy who runs the shop is Joe Taylor and he sells through his online store (http://www.brighthobbies.com.au/store/) at prices that are pretty much mainstream, but also lets stuff go on eBay at reduced prices. He runs lucky draw prizes and discounts for club members as long as there's a certain number of club members who register on his website.

Thought I'd pass this information on - I haven't actually met Joe in the flesh (and I'm not being rewarded in any way for this post) but his eBay dealings are very good compared to most LHS's.

As i couldn't find many build forums on the web, i though i would share mine......

Unboxing (after 7 weeks of waiting, it finally arrived)

Box came damaged, but luckily no marks or dents in the plane. Was dissapointed though that it was not double boxed.

Ran out of time yesterday to inspect further so i'll post more later of the parts box and critique the plane.

The fancy CD manual is no better that the usual crappy manuals sent with HK planes. (Its just a scanned copy of the manual anyway)

I haven't been flying lately due to a number of reasons mainly
family committments, however there is another reason also.

I have had to retire a couple of my planes which has reduced my
planes with wheels and therefor the number available for use at Area51.

Gone is the old ST Cessna (airframe to go to Mick) I have given up on this one. After the well known problem with the nose wheel I converted it to a taildragger but this shifted the cog so far that it was a dog in the air.
Good luck Mick I hope you have more success than me.
Also retired is the many times rebuilt P51. This last rebuild complete with retracts and flaps just made it too heavy. Ground tests show that the 3536c motor just cannot lift it even with 4cells.
I don't want to put any more money into it so I will strip it and maybe reuse some of the items in another parkzone P51 airframe I have lying around.

This means that at the moment I only have the so far unmaidened F86 available for Area 51.
My other available aircraft are bungee launch/belly landing jets and better suited for Mc Coy field.

I am busy working on the A380 and this will of course have landing gear.
It shound be ready within the next couple of weeks.
Next up will be the B737 but don't see that being available before Australia Day at the earliest.

Kev and I also have our 90mm Jet Teng models to finish and also another
F16 to replace the Artic Aggressor model that flew and sounded so well.

We also have a second hand Falcon120 gas turbine model which we are rebuilding and hoping to have ready for Temora next year.

Hi everyone,

Been a while since I've been down the field - change of circumstances at home means no time for flying heli's unfortunately.

So having had just enough flying time to get more confident I'm selling the Gaui 550. I bought this from Skidz back in April and has been a great heli to begin my learning process on.

So here is a Gaui 550 Hurricaine "Pro" version with many CNC metal upgrade parts.
Hyperion DS20GMD rudder servo
Spektrum DS821 cyclic servos
Align GP750 gyro
Dual Sky 8A BEC
2x Rhino 1050mAh 7.4V lipos (for BEC)
500mm carbon blades in addition to the standard wooden blades
TonicX Z20A motor in addition to the original motor (a spare)
Imax B6 Lipro Balance charger
Fusano canopy
Trex 600 skids have been added (much wider than original Gaui skids)
4x Turnigy 3300mAh Lipos (will work well with 3000mAh also)

Happy to remove bits and come to a deal if you don't want the batteries or the receiver for example.

Asking $370 for the lot.

Gyro

Charger, original canopy, spare blades and manual (for tinkering...)

TonicX Z20A motor, 4x Lipos, original motor and 2x Rhino lipos for BEC
[Image: Bits-2.jpg]

It's a sad day - but something I hope to take up again in a few years time......

Graham

EDIT - RECEIVER NOW SOLD SEPARATELY SO YOU WILL NEED TO ADD A RECEIVER TO FLY. PRICE DROP TO $370

Well, I guess you are all waiting for photos -- which I will provide in coming days.

First comments are that, apart from a decent plane, you get the world's worst screwdriver to go with with the world's worst screws. FMS must be short for F*%$ing Miserable Screws.

As George predicted, the motor is loose on the firewall. The flaps and aile hardware are crappy and the rudder hardware was all wrong. I can work around all this as the important parts are perfect. Beats me why the minor parts are so woeful.

Apart from the minor but extremely important control linkages, this is a very nice plane.

Sorry for the confusing post. Best I can say is a wonderful plane let down by the little (but important) things.

I have been using Rhino batteries from Hobby King for years and they are the oldest lipos I have. In 2009, I crashed my HK450 in the back yard and somehow managed to sever the balance lead off the battery yet didn't crack the canopy. Arcing and sparking, I managed to separate the severed balance wires from shorting out against each other (it was late in afternoon and quite dark so I could see the fireworks!). The main blades, main shaft, blade grips and feathering shaft were stuffed completely so I am miffed as to how the blades sliced off the balance plug.

Over the years, I had no choice but to charge the lipo without using the balance lead so a direct charge if you will. Far from ideal but no real choice. Recently I obtained a dead lipo from another 3S user and salvaged the balance lead. I soldered it on to that old 2009 battery today and balanced charged it for the first time in 2 years and after say 100+ cycles on charging without a balance lead. To my amazement, all cells were within 0.01V. I'm impressed!!
