Anyone racing EF1 at Richmond & what about Funfighters

While we suffer in soggy fields, power lines, dirt bikes etc I thought I'd share this pic of another field.
Some of you know my mate David, from Canberra. Thought I would share this pic of their field. Fake grass, Clubrooms with toilet facilities, coffee making.....lucky bastards. I call them the "Chardonnay Flyers".

I know it's not electric but, here it is anyway.

I'm off to Cowra this weekend for the Oily Hand Weekend, where you can fly anything from FF, CL and RC but, it MUST be powered by diesel or small unmuffled glow engines. More of a social weekend with a few low key events thrown in to bring back some nostalgia, and an excuse to build something that you normally wouldn't.

Being shamed by a couple of mates for the last couple of years for not going to Cowra, I decided it was time to go.

Each year they have a model of the meet, this years is the Hearns Hobbies Sportster. I only decided about 4 weeks ago that I would build it as it is simple enough. Although the plan states 2-2.5cc sized engine, I have a Mills 1.3 and built lite enough will provide ample power.

A bit of history, Hearns Hobbies was established in Melbourne in 1947, the Sportster was designed and kitted by them I think in the early to mid 1950's as Free Flight, or rudder only RC. The Mills 1.3 was built between 1946-1964. My model and others I've seen so far will be rudder/elevator control to make it more flyable.

Model specs, wingspan is 50", chord is 10". The size of a basic 40 sized trainer. My model balanced and ready to fly is 20 ounces, or 575 grams. Not that much considering the size of it.

I will post some pics of the weekend if people are interested.

This is my first post and i thought id start off with a question.
Although i am new and only at simulator stage with flying RC planes i have always liked a plane hanging on the roof in Hobbies in the hills at Castle Hill. I have asked them before and the person i asked didnt know what it was... I was wondering if anyone here did.

    Includes motor, but I'm keeping the receiver. Everything working except busted nose wheel. I should charge at least $50 for this set up but you'll need $10 to buy a new nose wheel. I would like to sell this as I haven't flown for over a year, my skills aren't as good as they once were. I have bought a high wing trainer and if I feel like something quick I still have foamies lying around. I need to make some room and as I don't think I will be flying this one again so I need to let it go.
The wheels are a bit larger than usual to cope with our grass strip.
It was flying for prob two years after nose wheel bent after a hard landing.

It is a quick plane. I think the motor was always a bit too heavy.

I'm selling a Hobbyking 70mm ViperJet Still brand new in the box.
I'm asking $100 - currently $161.78 plus postage from the Aus warehouse.
Will sell the DPS 70mm EDF (1900W 6S - 10 blade) that I bought to go with it, for $40 (originally $78) if you want it but not separately as I would rather keep it for a future project.
I've got enough other projects already and I think this bird may be a little beyond my capabilities for now - my upgraded Stinger is enough speed for me at the moment.

Hi guys,
I'm looking at setting up a Multi Rotor to do some basic camera stuff with, and possibly FPV in the future with it. Is there an advantage with sticking with 4, or better off with 6 or 8 motors?

Which frame to get? I've looked at this one, which looks pretty cool. Is it alright?

Flight controllers, there seems to be a lot of people using the DJI Naza. Is it as simple as frame, controller, kit it out and just fly?
