Field Condition...

Heh Jason I'm surprised that its change so Quickly as i was there around 10am and there was probably about an inch of water willow end of strip and was squelching water around pilot box area of runway and it was wet wet driveway end of strip.
I'm Glad its Improved or our interpretations are different lol

Lets Hope Today is Sunny and it Dries Out some More Smile

Steve

Edit - Once Plane in Air, Strip is in Great Condition Biggrin

Field Report - Friday 11-00am
Western end of strip is unserviceable with numerous areas with surface water of varying depths.
Eastern end is damp to soggy but usable.
The driveway is firm but slippery and will easily chop up if a large number of vehicles enter.

In short Saturday should be OK for hand launched aircraft or STOL type using the eastern end only as the water on the west will not be dispersed by then. Driving in will need to be assessed on the day.

Was down the Field about 2:30pm Today

Its So wet, there is no way any driving in will happen this weekend.

Flying well be honest its so wet under feet, strip, pilot area that we would be trashing all the nice work we done walking all over it as its soggy and in most cases water still sitting on top.

Predictions are for more Rain again on the weekend.
Sorry Guys but lets hope this weather changes sometime soon.

Has anyone droped by the field and had a look at its condition.
Ive beeen flat out all week and haven't had a chance, It will probably need mowing, I know it grows slowly this time of year but we haven'y mowed it for a month.
I have got to work in the morning and hope to go straight from work to the field, At this stage I don't know which field that will be!
PRCAC or PEMAC.

KevB told me that there was water on the runway on Wednesday and I didn't like our chances of things improving much since then. Haven't bothered to check it out since.

Hi Guys,
I ventured down this arvo at about 4-30pm and I have to say it doesn't look good for flying tomorrow as there is a lot of water on the western end of the strip. The eastern end isn't too bad if you keep up close to the edge of the strip nearest the pilot box.
Driving in would not be advisable.

My choice of fields for tomorrow would be PEMAC if I had the time, which I don't as I have another activity planned. So to those flying have a good one.

Cheers

Just stopped by McCoy field it's definatly flyable but it might be a walk in. Though the track in is almost drivable

The field should be right for driving on tomorrow morning, We will be marking a driveway with cones so please stick to it, If you get there and they're not setup, please stick to the existing tyre tracks and don't make your own.

Just got back from a walk around the field - the news, predictably, isn't good.

There is standing water all the way west of where the taxiway meets the runway, so we've got half a strip at best. The eastern end is dry enough to use, but it's not as smooth as I'd like it to be and probably not dry enough to mow without creating more damage to the surface.

Looks like PEMAC is the go ... just for a change!

You know what ? I reckon if everyone in the club buys one of these then the field will probably dry up in record time!!

I was down there on the weekend and the old strip was a bog!! I had to walk across it to try to recover a canopy. However the current strip was quite flyable if you used the dry half to land on and take off. I must have had a dozen flights on Sunday and I had two flights of the Sadler Vampire on Saterday. A bit of a bugger carying things down to the field but not that onerious really. I must say I did have fun and just about had the field totally to my self.

I would of loved to join you on the weekend but was a busy weekend for me work wise.

Hoping weather holds out and we can get a mow in on Friday before the weekend.
It would be nice to get an update of Field conditions Today if anyone is done there Flying, to know if its possible to mow.

Well Steve, Owen and I went for a walk around the field yesterday (Monday) afternoon and it was too wet to mow then, that's for sure. The runway west of the taxiway is still holding water. By the looks of it, we've had some light rain overnight now too.

Have we ever concidered using something like precast concrete walls, floors or very larger pavers joined together to make a runway? something the rain cannot wash away(Heavy) easy to hose off or sweep. I'm no experet on concreting but I was wondering how we can have a runway that doesnt soak up water and could be removed in the future if the council needs the land back.... I don't know the costs or the logistic of laying it but it was just a thought.

Hi guys. Call it the field. This morning, the bottom of ramp and ramp itself quite wet and not a good idea to drive over at even with a four wheeled drive. The runway is quite dry, except for both ends.

Kind regards, Bob.

5.PM Guys, it is now raining steadily in Toongabbie .

Has anyone per chance dropped by the field to see what state it is in for the weekend?
I want to maiden my Seagull Super Tucano and will have to go out to PEMAC if the strip isn't in great shape.

I want to maiden my Super Cub but worried about if it's still wet, the soggy strip will swallow up the already flimsy landing gear. Maybe Sunday!!
I still want to see you maiden the Super Tucano, just tell us where.
