Field Condition...

I've not looked at McCoy in the past couple of days, but I'm sure it will be in terrible shape - don't even think about maidening your new machine there Gazz, it would be a wasted trip.

Guy's Let me know the possibility of mowing Field this week as i have some spare time this week and can go down and mow if it is possible to do.

An update: Whereas it's still too wet to mow at the moment, the field is improving. There's a chance of rain tomorrow which is unwelcome news (... to say the ****ing least!) but if it doesn't hit hard, or at all, then we should get some good flying at McCoy on Saturday.

Unfortunately, I can't be available to mow the strip on Friday afternoon, which was my original plan. The grass isn't bad (we were using it today without dramas) but it could do with a low cut with a grasscatcher - if someone can manage that then great, otherwise we could either do it on Saturday morning (would require three or more mowers to get it done quickly) or give it a miss and just get on with the show.

Is there someone in the club with access to a Bobcat and a few hours to spare?

No one replied! I guess none of us have access to one.
Have we considered a hire? maybe everyone chips in a few dollars? There are a few and this guy is in Parramatta on gumtree.http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/parramatta/other-building-trades/bobcat-and-tipper/314997295

I had a look at the runway late this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised ..... for a ****ing change. It's looking pretty good, considering the rain we had earlier in the week. I don't know whether the mid-week mob had a fly today, but there's only the westernmost quarter of the strip which is wet, with one pool which is holding water. Overall, it's usable and should get better before the weekend.

I think I might slip in there for a few lazy circuits tomorrow afternoon if it doesn't get windy .... before I forget how to operate my ****ing transmitter. The forecast is looking good for the next four days (with only a 10% chance of 1 to 5mm tomorrow and Sunday), but predictably, it's tipped to go bad again early next week.

Good work by the work-crew on the ramp too - we should find driving in much easier now, nice job!

Update: Willy has improved things, by dropping the probability of rain tomorrow and Sunday to 5% chance of 1 to 5mm - "keep it up champ!"

Dave - I can give you a hand on Friday afternoon, I've scheduled stuff on Friday to free up the afternoon for an important "Community Service" activity like this. Please let me know when you're planning to be there.

Isn't that strange that in Baulko, 5 minutes away as the crow flies, we didn't have a drop.

Obviously the rain gods are at it again!

Hopefully things will improve over the next 24 hours or so!!

Half of the runway isn't currently in a serviceable state for planes with undercarriage. I went over there with my mower this afternoon, but didn't even start the thing up once I walked along the runway and checked things over. There is water on it from the taxiway west - putting a wheel down in that at speed would not be advisable.

The eastern half of the runway was alright though and would support planes that could use just that portion of the strip.

There's a chance that it might improve for Sunday morning, and that would be my recommendation at this stage.

On a brighter note - our PRCAC signs have been installed by the PCC. Not quite where I thought they were supposed to go, but two new signs have been put on posts and they look pretty good.
