Nice one Gary.
Don't know if I'll have a turbine inside 12 months but think for sure one day.
So have you also bought the plane yet or just the transmitter?

No Paul
Have not ordered the jet yet.
I have the Clubsport on the market at the moment, so a soon as it sells I will be ordering the airframe.
Delievery is 6 to 8 weeks from the US once payment is made.
Kiran
I to thought that I would need a Futaba 12 to 14 but according to the guys from Speedfreeks using the Smartfly Power Expander EQ6 Turbo that I have ordered 8 or 9 channels is sufficient. Ive spoken in detail via email to Speedfreeks re radio requirements and Mark tells me to stop stressing he has the radio requirements covered, so I hope he's right.

Right back at ya with the lol mate
No biggy with the twisting and turning stuff, just remember to bring your gyro setup instructions and we will get the little beastie in the air.
If you havent got training gear go and buy some NOW.
It will save you a lot of money in rotor blades.
I have to work tomorrow so I will see you next weekend.

Today is a sad sad day.
Especially if you have a PC9 with Hitec HS 311 servos.
This WAS the only aircraft in my squadron with plastic gears.
I will never buy them again.

PS: KEV if you have plastic gear drive servos in your PC 9 my advise would be to scrap them before they scrap you.
I had just increased the rates from 80 to 100%. I had 3 very succesful high speed flights when this happened.
Sorry mate but we are no longer the Roulettes (at least not until I build a new one.)

Post flight Aircrash Investigation found the gears in the elevator servo striped. The attached photos show what happens to a beautiful PC 9 when it cannot pull out of a 200 kph plus high speed pass.

Yes Gazz, now I see the value in MG servos - sorry that it happened.
By the way, I did a bit of Googling about and I found the advert you were telling me about on RC Trader - I've emailed the guy to see if there is the possibility of a deal.
Thanks for the tip-off mate!
Cheers,
Steve

damn, thats a bad one..

im sorry to see her in that state mate certainly makes me worry about mine but also dont have the cash for a servo swapover atm, looks like im running a risk for awhile or grounding her. how many kg servo were they?

i checked em out, the ones i run are plastic gear also but rated 30% stronger than those hitecs you had, still tho its not really acceptable i think ill throw an order in for at least one heavy duty MG unit and swap over the elevator servo as a compromise.

has anyone had any experience with any HK full size MG servos? perhaps not too expensive Smile

maybe this one,

Kev - I've not had any experience with any servos of this class, but the ones Gazz recommended for the 46 size Chipmunk of Owen's are these ...

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...duct=12451

Gazz also put these in his Katana. I picked up three of them a few weeks back - if you'd like to have one of them, then let me know (it'll be a couple of months before we get the Chippy ready to fly anyway and I can get a replacement in the mean time).
Cheers,
Steve

Hey Kev

Gotta agree with Steve here.

The Alloy Turnigy MG servos might be a little over kill.

But at 15 kgs they will never let you down.

I have 4 of them in my new Katana and so far they are the ducks guts.

I would stay clear of the Blue bird servos, I purchased a 12kg high torque servo for the gear on my heli and it burnt out in 5 minutes, I have replaced it with one of the Turnigy Alloy MG servos and it is running the 3 retracts on my heli.

Gday Gazz

Mate that PC9 looks comprehensively mashed, sorry to see her in such a state.
My Camel has HD9150MG's installed, they are good for 16kg's, are bloody fast and very smooth. Only downer is that they do not seem to precisely re-center. We are only talking a poofteenth here so you could argue it's just me being pedantic as usual. I suspect that because I have a fair bit of sub trim dialed in that could possibly be a factor. Will mechanically adjust back to zero's and reassess. Highly recommended.

BTW have you managed to sort the 11X upgrade to DSMX?

Cheers

Gazz - just spotted this, since you mentioned you were planning a replacement ...

http://www.rbhonline.com.au/index.php?ma...oduct_info&cPath=3_48&products_id=571

... $200 isn't a bad price for that machine! I don't know what postage/courier costs would look like though.
All the best,

Hi Rob
No mate I havent had time to even try and find the web site.

Below is the culprit responsible for the destruction of my PC9.
Bloody plastic servos. You can clearly see the failure of the lower gear set.
