Archive: Flying this Weekend...

(20-05-2011, 09:00 PM)yarrumevets Wrote:  Don't know what time it was before the sun burned all the fog off, but visibility wasn't great let alone the potential 2.4G signal attenuation with the water in the air.
I noticed that Willy has removed the fog from tomorrow's forecast though - it was there last night but is gone now, perhaps it won't be so bad tomorrow. Certainly, the wind-speed at only 5 km/h in the morning sounds good Smile
See you there!

Hope that forecast change is accurate - fog was still lingering after 10:30am up in Norwest. Presumably later still over at the field..

Gday All

Hey KV, you don't seriously expect us to believe this comment do you? "I was just crusing slow, straight and level with the Stryker"Lol
Thanks for the heads up re fog and 2.4 though, I would assume the fog attenuates the crap out of the signal?

Oh, and as a slightly relevant aside, apparently the apocalypse begins today so fly em like they're stolen people. Many thanks to Christian Radio from the US for making sure we didn't inadvertently miss this event. I have become pretty good at Plants vs Zombies on the Iphone so I AM READY. Bring it on imps of hell etc etc.

Looking out the window right now the wind is nothing from nowhere the sun is shining visibility cavok. Looks perfect.

Cheers

Hoping to have an early fly this morning, what time will somebody be at the field this morning to open. Have a lunch time birthday celebration with relo's & hoping to get a last fly in before a few weeks holiday. Trying to minimise the withdrawals :-)

For those of us stuck to be local, are there any field status observations from the locals? Is it worth charging batteries or is Phoenix the go?
Willy says 60% chance of a little rain and some low wind. So I'll tke those odds if I can find a runway.

That will be good to watch given the facelift and the performance mods.

That's the way Banger - you'd best get in some flying time nice and quick .... before the arthritis kicks in!

So you'll be watching from your car Dave??!! Wink

Batteries on charge ready for tomorrow. The large end of the cross strip looks just fine for helicopters. If anyone else is up for heli sessions tomorrow, please join me around 9am. Hopefully Brotherblonde will be down to loop and flip the Trex 600. Gotta do it sooner or later BB! First the stall turns and then the inversion before pulling out again. Easy.. if you have the nerves of steel.. the helicopter can do it.. but can you? Smile

I'll be there at 9 Dave. Looking forward to it!

Got the drive gears sorted? I'm guessing yes. See you there Graham. We'll be walking in due to field conditions.

We've got a family weekend on this weeked. We were going to go away but there's so much on, we're having a holiday at home. So the field's got another week to dry out before I get to it.

Well yeah the gear change took 5 mins and I was back down there last weekend. I even got a nose-in hover in!

I think I may need to replace the one way gear too however - looking a bit worn (but ok to fly I reckon). Would be good if you can take a look tomorrow.

And yeah, deffo planning to walk in...

Graham

Terrific chaps! Looking forward to tomorrow. Northerner... you have progressed well grasshopper (!!). (Kung Fu speak).

Gazz,
I posted an enquiry on the PEMAC web-site to see if any of the guys were going to be flying this weekend (because as visitors we can't get past their gate, which is well beyond a reasonable walking distance to the field).
One helpful chap did respond, indicating Saturday would be probable but I've not made any preparations and it's already about 2:30am. I'm not going to be ready for a Saturday outing now, but Sunday is still on.
Would Sunday fit in with your plans? - that would give me time to see if KevB wanted to go as well.
Cheers,
Steve

I might go down for a look this morning and take something to hand launch

OK Gazz, I've emailed KevB to see if he's interested. Hopefully we can meet up with someone from their club at a pre-arranged time, otherwise we'll be hanging around the gate making the place look untidy.
You can leave your FunJet and any EDF-powered planes in your hangar though - these are outlawed there because of noise restrictions.
Here's their club website: http://www.pemacflyers.com/
Nice little field and a good bunch of blokes - hope we can get there. I'll keep you posted!

Steve Murray

I really wanted to go flying this morning, can't find my bloody car keys....

I may be able to make it tomorrow for a visit as well. If you can let me know when and where, I'll meet you there as well
