Archive: Flying this Weekend...

Good news !!

“The knack of flying is learning how to throw your machine at the ground and miss.”

"When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your thoughts turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return."  ~Leonardo Da Vinci

Hopefully, winds moderate and minor rain woot woot

It wouldn't kill me to miss flying for one day, but then again, why risk it.

Medium chance of showers both days and moderate winds across the weekend, slightly more wind on Sunday.

Gates open, calm morning so far ☺️☺️

Gravity sucks, or should I say, is the downfall of all things flying. It's the way it's controlled that makes the end memorable or not.

Morning,

Can anyone report on the condition of the field for the weekend ?

thanks,

James

G'day fellow flyers, I'm asking all members if they have any spare electrical conduit lying around their place that they are not using, as I am looking at making up a bungee launcher for the club.
Preferably around the 25mm and any elbows and T pieces if you can supply.

I'm trying to come up with a way so that everyone doesn't have to add a hook on the underside of the aircraft, possibly on a sliding platform of some kind...

Any help will be appreciated in making this a piece of club equipement.

Sunday is looking to be the better flying day. Good weather and light winds.
Saturday is fine weather but 20-30k wind.

Hi. As anybody heard how Chris is getting on?.

Hi Bob,

Doing okay. Op last Friday, out of Hospital Monday, back to Hospital this morning to have Cathatar removed. No driving until next weekend. 5 puncture wounds healing nicely. My wife is enjoying giving me injections every night for the next moth lol. I see my Specialist on Monday to get results of pathology test on the Lymph nodes.

Thanks for asking, hope you guys have a happy weekend flying.

It wouldn't kill me to miss flying for one day, but then again, why risk it.

That's good to hear Chris.
I went down this morning and got in a few flights, 1 with the radian with a hot landing, flew my quad for 2 batteies and had a bash with the Sbach until a prop strike on the ground. The wind whilst gusting occassionaly made for some active flying to say the least.
Later Barry and son rocked up for some quad free flying also armed with his Suhkoi, then srl made an appearance lol

Its a nice morning for flying here
The breeze might pick up a little but its cool and fairly still at the moment
Im about to fire up the q 500 for a trim flight

I really wish I could get there but I have been busy with work and family stuff for the last month and a bit. Fingers crossed I'll get a leave pass next weekend. Hanging out to get back there.

Ouch Rossy, looks like a nasty hit to the rotors.

I broke 3 rotor blades and the prop, snapped a rotor support post and split open the fuselage.

However after 20mins some hot glue, CA and some spares she is flight ready.

I will be out on Sunday again with this and my SuperG and Cierva C30 (all autogyros)

HI, Andrew. I also had a crash my quad not sure what happened but video link failed suddenly I killed the throttle allow it to land with minor damage thank goodness???.

Looking great for tomorrow guys, will be there in the morning. If you don't have your MAAA Membership Card please ask me.

Have fun guys, both days look good.
I've got a pretty busy weekend. If I can find time I'll pop down.
Also, If you find you have an extra set of gum boots in the flight box, they'll be mine.
I lent them to Marco (I think), to retrieve plane bits.
I'll pick them up next time I'm down.

HI Bull

As said by Babar you're very welcome to join us. I would suggest between 9-12 on the weekends. Unfortunately I wont be there this weekend, but feel free to come down anyway.

Conditions were good this morning. Lost my ft sparrow foam board flyer in the weeds. Could not find it on 1st attempt. Flew another round first. Abanoned my next attempt to retrieve the sparrow when I was greeted by a red belly snake upon entering weeds. Frown

If you don't live on the edge, you take up too much space.

Oh crap Dirk, I bet it scared the crap out of you?
This is just the warning we need when we enter the reeds that all precautions need to be taken with our warm weather that the reptiles are very active and very well hidden in there....
We can come all to complacent coming out of the winter and wet days of the past few months...

Hello club members, please go to the members only page for Saturdays Xmas BBQ at the flying field and add your attending numbers to the count so that we know how many to cater for

Shocked

Thanks, Tod. It was still a few meters away, so I had a good look at it. Could have easily overlooked it and stepped on it.

I Pm'ed Chris earlier today, I don't seem to have access to the member only forum, who can grant me access ? not wanting to miss the party hey Smile

Cheers,

Dirk.

If anyone is interested in taking over the role of Club Secretary they can then fix the problems of the Forum.
