Archive: Flying this Weekend...

No mods as yet, Just threw it together in a night for the course this weekend.

Running the 35-48 1100 KV, 60amp ESC & a 12x6 x3bladed prop.

I would rate performance as 'spirited' Wink

Amps are a little warm so I may prop back for now.

I can sympathize with you Chris it IS a slippery bugger. I had a huge head wind and the thing still would not slow down. Overshot all my landings!

Thinking about an arvo flight anyone know what the field is like?

Yes I do Kev
I droped in on the way home from work at 11.30 and had a quick walk around the field.
It is very wet with puddles on the strip, boggy under foot and the grass is out of control.
I was thinking about going down for an afternoon fly myself but it really is too wet. Even the taxi way which is usually ok is soaking.

Hi Guys,
I see from Pop Eye Pete's posting that the field is a little wet and the grass is quite long.
Given the amount of water that we have had, I don't think Darren will be able to mow this W/E - can anyone confirm this?
If he can't I am willing to go down to the field this evening at around 6-30pm and mow a small amount with my hand mower - just enough to get our planes that are not hand lauchable off the ground.

I intend on flying tomorrow from around 8-30am - is anyone able to open up the gates in the morning?

Cheers
Chris SmileSmileSmile

I'll ask him tonight at the MAS meeting.

Hi Chris
I WILL be flying tomorrow but at this stage I will probably need to go into work for a few hours to sort out an engine fault.
If you would like I will drop by on route to work and unlock the gates (AT 6am). I will leave the bars up but I will unlock them if you like.
Please confirm.
I droped in last Sunday on the way home from work to check out the strip and see if any die hards were out but the strip was way overgrown and it was a soppy mud pit. To add insult to injury our mates on the motor bikes had been back yet again.
I hope it has improved with the warmer weather but I think we are all being a bit optomistic with all the rain earlier in the week.

Good conditions for helis

Hi All,
I partially mowed this evening.
It is very soft, so there is no way that Darren could have mowed using the ride on.
I did most of the main strip but unfortunately I ran out of fuel, time and light so the angled strip is only partially done.

Gary if you could unlock the gates on your way to work that would be fantastic - I will be there between 8 & 8-30.

See you all in the morning.

Chris M

Hi Guys,

I can open up tomorrow - after 8.00am.

Garry it will save you from going & still leave the gates secure.

Can't make it Sunday - my grandsons christening - see you tomorrow.

Hope to be there Kev - didn't get to the field today, but really wanna get there tomorrow as long as the weather holds up and the gates are open. I'm wondering how much water is on the ground over there at the moment. I'm only going to be flying UM T-28 anyway, so there aren't big demands, but Owen wants more big-Trojan time ... guess we'll have to play it by ear.
Hope to see you there!

Thank you to all of you for your thoughts and kind words.
Dad was given a great send off. He would have been happy with it.
Mum went 3 years ago, and as a mate who knew them said, "He's up there with her, and she'd be STILL telling him what to do!" Smile
I guess that means I'm an orphan now.

It was a lovely morning for flying this morning. I managed to get in some good stick time. The air was mostly as still as it gets with just the bearest breath of wind at times.

I'm hoping it'll be open for 8:30ish 'coz I'm on limited stick time tomorrow. I'll probably carry a couple of small models in if no-one's there.
