Am happy to bring the whipper snipper early tomorrow if needed. Any suggestions which area to attack next.

Hi Garry,
The field is in pristine condition for the weekend.
I went down late this afternoon to mow only to find that the pixies had already been, so I spent my time widening the strip where I could and working on lengthening the cross strip.
Happy flying, I won't be down tomorrow but will hopefully be there on Sunday.

Yep - KevB was a man on a mission today, his mower barely had time to cool down between petrol-tank refills!

Thanks to you too Chris - but somehow, Barnsey and pixies don't figure in the same picture ... well, not a pleasant picture in any case!

The strip was slashed a little wider today. The willows might have started to come down if the tree loppers have freed their bogged equipment.

Strip has not been mowed, he kept the slasher off all but the end of the strip. If there is no rain overnight the council slashers should be back Friday and they hope to get closer to the creek. One was bogged on the other side today, hopefully the same does not happen on our side.

OK - next question is, how badly does the strip need mowing?

Never mind, I can answer my own question now.

There's been some action by the slasher-bloke too, and he deserves a beer! Our runway widening scheme has been given a significant leg-up (it would have taken us a fortnight to do what he's done in a day) and he gave the cross-strip a workover as well. The preparations for removal of the willows are under way - all good news.
I'm going to give the main runway a trim later today to get rid of the fireweed and other stalky growth so that we've got things set for "chocks away" tomorrow morning.

I offer my vote of thanks as well Smuzz, looking forward to enjoying the benefits of your efforts tomorrow and continue my feelings of guilt for not contributing. Willy is offering light winds but a 20% chance of early showers. here's hoping he is 20% wrong.

No worries gents - it's a good excuse to get home for a beer! All good.
I'm just hoping for a big turn-out so that we can catch up with a few flyers we haven't seen in a while.

Thanks to whoever beat me to the field today - when I got here at about 3:00pm, most of the strip was already done! So I finished it off and we're set for tomorrow as it's in pretty good shape now.
All we need is Willy to deliver on his promise.

No problem. I would have finished it except my mower had some issues and decided not to run any more. It will be ok after a rest. Must be a Gen Y mower. Works for a few hours and stops.
