Not a normal day for me to fly, but as I don't go back to work till 2nd Jan, I intend to make use of our mowing efforts today and open up tomorrow (Wednesday) at my usual 8.00 - 8.30. See you all the...

The strips are closely mowed and firm to land on. We were considering mowing on the normal Thursday, but we have a forecast of rain Wednesday & Thursday and as the grass was almost knee high (a slight...

Thanks Andre, I bow to your knowledge and in my defence about "too high" comment, was not from my own research, just repeating what has been said to me from an undisclosed source :leet: .

Lots higher will actually reduce the life of the battery. A little bit extra not too bad. I will leave it up to the gurus to pass on the intricacies.

Ask the question to 5 different people & get 5 different answers. Don't get talked into a high C rating to deliver more power than necessary, will shorten the life of the battery. Before I souped up m...

The rain radar looks pretty clear so far. I intend to be at the field to open up at my usual 8.00 - 8.30. See you there.

Better news for today. Drive in OK. Few soggy spots but white centre lines dry enough to land on. Light winds, grey skies but no rain forecast. Enjoy your flying while you can. Sorry but I have family...

Just took a trip to McCoy Park Aquatic Centre and the news is not good. All of the runway is soggy again with the usual pools but somewhat enlarged. Looking towards Grace end of strip, closest pool ...

Thanx for the posting Andre, very useful to non entry code holders & those not wanting to fly alone. Let's hope others follow your kind initiative.

It is with great pleasure I am able to give good news for a change. This weekend promises excellent conditions, barely any morning wind, NO RAIN. What more could you ask for, how about a closely mown ...

I intend to mow 8.00am tomorrow (weather permitting) and takes about 3 hours. Willing assistants with a mower are welcomed & will allow an earlier flying time

If the field has dried enough, I intend mowing Thursday morning and as per our by-laws, no flying whilst field maintenance in progress. So late morning or early arvo will be ok to fly.

Just when you think the weather gods have started to take pity on us this happens Willy gives us a kick in the shins. Possible thunderstorm this afternoon. Only a 40% chance though.

Crazy, you think?. He was wearing a helmet for safety, wouldn't want to go out of control from a thousand metres without it eh!!. Who knows how much damage you could do to your self!!!!!!

Jason V & I just visited the field and observations were dismal. As previously predicted, the grass is way too long for wheeled planes to take off, let alone land  . In addition to that, paspalu...

To avoid repeating myself, just read last weeks report of flying possibilities. Just add a few inches of grass.

I do like model flight in Adelaide as an Australian distributer. $224 with free shipping is not bad. You are likely to eventually upgrade later, but you wont lose much if you sell it later when upgrad...

I have always been an advocate of the E-flite Apprentice http://www.modelflight.com.au/planes/electric-planes/e-flite-apprentice-s-15e-rc-plane-bnf.html as it was the plane that gave me the flying con...

I'd say that was optimistic  . I walked outside in the rain a few minutes ago & my rain gauge indicated 28mm. 10mm in a short period can flood our field.
2,852,122
And down it comes again. Anybody wanna take a guess at tomorrows chance of flying?
2,852,122
Am at the field and not looking good. All of strip soggy & long grass. Walking into field left footprints in driveway. Advise walk in only & belly landers only for the diehards. Not for me, not that k...

I got the info from a person who uses the leash free dog field. No pics. Looked at the field yesterday & it was all soggy with usual puddles. Rain radar shows rain on the way today & forecast changed ...

More than 45mm fell yesterday. Previous deluge of 30mm a few weeks ago had water up to the top of the culvert concrete and would have drowned a giraffe.

Thanks for that Andre, I marked suggested ideal COG but using fingers to balance it, it is had to know if I have hit the spot. Will be a perfect day tomorrow for a few trial & errors. If you are going...

Just to keep this topic in the appropriate thread (something we should all do). My new PA Extra MX likes to roll dramatically when I try to loop (& for the life of me I cannot remember which way). Ja...

The weather looks great for flying tomorrow, winds forecast to under 10kph all morning, 5% chance of 1-5mm rain & max temp 29 deg C. Strip is freshly mowed & dry. I will be there at my usual 8.00 - 8....

Had 3 good flights, but it likes to roll when looping. Probably because I did not get the horizontal stab parallel with main wing. May have to mix aileron with elevator.
2,852,122
Looks like you missed the boat JJ, never mind you can bring the boat tomorrow. Willy suggests 80% chance of 5-10mm rain in the morning. 10mm of rain is enough to flood our field. Chris Mc has a suitab...

My wind gauge tree appears motionless and Willy says 0 kph as real-time speed. Yet the forecast graph says 8kph at 7am. So much for accuracy. Current graph shows 15k winds by 10am and increasing so ...

Not going to be the calmest of days but a good pilot can handle 25k winds. I might even dare to punch a few holes in the sky today. I intend opening 8.30ish, see all you keen daredevils there.

The weather gauge tree is waving it's limbs, giving today's warning for any flying whims. At 6am it was 25 degrees and climbing, our comfort in flying will be surely declining. So for myself, I'll be ...
