Sticky: Introduce Yourself Here!

Hello Meor Shazilli,
You are very welcome to come and visit our fly field and you can bring a couple of planes with you. Our Club is electric only due to the area we fly in.
We fly every Saturday and Sunday (weather permitting). Do you know where our field is located?
Always check this forum and weather the day before to see if people will be flying.

Regards Todd

Gravity sucks, or should I say, is the downfall of all things flying. It's the way it's controlled that makes the end memorable or not.

Hi all, just bought a mini apprentice and hoping to get back into flying rc again. Has been quite a while and hoping to come down to the field and introduce myself and hopefully become a member. Is anyone heading over there anytime soon? Thanks in advance, Greg.

Hi Greg

A few of were at Mccoy park yesterday. It was good to catch up after a busy leadup to Christmas. As Todd said weekends after 9.30 with good weather and members present the club is open and you can have a fly.

Happy new year.

Hi all,

I’m George,

Happy New Year.

I’m new to the
I’ve recently started flying drones and looking to get into FPV for recreation.  Perhaps get into the racing when I’ve brushed up on skills and more confident in flying.

Looking to learn from others on all aspects of the quads.
Hoping to meet other pilots to learn from regarding building and maintaining RC drones, as well as flying acro.

Hi All,

My name is Liam, I walked into the field today to have a bit of a sticky beak, I met a few of you but I'm hopeless with names sorry!

I've had an RC plane since 2002 (a Kyosho trainer originally with an OS LA 40, and then converted to electric), however in that plane I had 1 successful take off and 0 sucessful landings Smile

I have just got myself a new radio and fitted it to my second plane (a Bix 3 I've had for 8 years but never flown) so I'm looking to come out and hopefully get some guidance on setup and flying. I'm in Glenwood.

Now I'm browsing rc plane sites to decide what's next!

Hi everyone

I found the club on line a few weeks back. I have been build a few flite test foam board planes with no where really to test them…. Not legally anyway.

I have a couple of delta wings I have been playing with.

I went to the field the other day and met a few members who helped me try to get my latest project in the air.

I am looking forward to some maidens for a bunch of builds really. Will attach some pics

Hey Camdoggs,

Great-looking planes.

The best time to come down is Saturday or Sunday morning.

See you soon.

Cheers,
Andrew

Yeah…. It’s mostly un tested…. I figure its probably time to learn how to fly lol

That’s pretty much the reason why I built the trainer

Cameron,

Do you have a Simulator to practice on?

Yeah I have had some over the years. One that my Tx plugged into. I should probably brush up.

Do you know of any simulators that have any elevon only models?

Cameron,

Most Simulators have plenty of planes to choose from.

I use Phoenix RC, but there are others. You can get a Simulator at the hobby shop or much cheaper on eBay or AliExpress.

We recommend a Simulator to every new pilot, they are great to learn on and fun as well.

Andrew

Hi,

I'm Keith, live in Toongabbie just across the street from the field. I've done some slope soaring in the past, excited to try out some powered gliders at the field.

Thanks,
Keith

Welcome to the forum, Keith,  looking forward to see you at the field soon !

If you don't live on the edge, you take up too much space.

Hi!

I'm Jerry. I live in Ryde and here is the nearest place I can find to fly RC aricrafts.
I fly FPV flywings before but never tried it in Australia. I really want to join a club like this to have fun together.

Cheers!

Hi Rui and Jerry, welcome!

Feel free to drop in to the field on Saturday or Sunday mornings, there's ususally a bunch of people flying each day (weather permitting)

We do have a growing contingent of FPV pilots too.

Rui, your VTOL plane looks pretty interesting! Do you have a flight controller onboard or do you control it all manually?
Reply

Hello, I'm interested in getting into FPV flying and have ordered a Boxmaster Boxer Crush controller so that I can start practicing on a sim.

Doing my research about how I'd go about actually flying in the real world, and that's how I arrived here.

Information for visitors and new flyers.

Parramatta Radio Control Aircraft Club is a incorporated association that allows members to fly radio control aircraft at Mccoy park in western Sydney NSW. We are affiliated with the Model Aeronautical Association of Australia  which allows us to operate under the CASA drone regulations.  With sporting leases we have operated in  a well suited  area north of Toongabbie Creek with the permission of Parramatta City Council for the last 17years. The entrance to this area is at the southern end of Tucks Rd Seven Hills (not  Toongabbie).

Members are usually present weekends and Wednesdays when the weather is suitable. Visitors can park in a area at the entrance or drive in if the gates are open. Always stay  along  the northern  boundary  if aircraft are flying to keep a safe 30 metre distance.

Because we operate in a urban area, only small to median sized electric powered aircraft are suitable to fly at Mccoy park with a noise limit applying . With the convenient location we particularly welcome new people to the hobby and because of the crowded frequency spectrum we recommend the use of the ELRS 2.4 radio protocol. The use of old DSM radios by visitors is not allowed.

To join the club just turn up on the mornings that members are present. They will guide you through the flying rules and provide any assistant if needed. After a few weeks of proficient flying you will be invited to join the club. Application forms must be given to a committee member at the flying field and must be signed by 2 club members. For more formation just leave a post in  our introduce yourself thread on our forum.

Attached is our flying rules.
See you at Mccoy field.

Hi Jancu, welcome!

Feel free to drop in to the field on Saturday or Sunday mornings, I'm hoping to be there on Saturday morning and there's usually a bunch of people about.

It may be walk in only, depending on how well the ground has dried out.

Hi everyone.

I have been trying to catch more of the committee down at the park but the weather was not kind to us through July-August!

You may have seen me flying my first (motorised) RC plane down at the park a few times as a guest.
Wow, was I nervous on the first flight.
But a lot of simulator flying and a few times at the park now, those nerves are gone, and I am super keen to get more flying time in.
I also have a hand-built balsa glider I plan to bring out of moth-balls at some point...

Thanks to Dirk for a buddy flight, and Andre for so many tips getting going and my ELRS setup sorted. Setting up a motor kill-switch on my transmitter may have saved a finger already - Who knows!

About me: I started studying Electrical Engineering at uni but found a love of computer and software so I completed a science degree majoring in Computer Science and Pure Math (Just passed them Math...)
Have been working in software in the Voice automation area, and more recently Chatbots... Yeah, those things everyone loves to hate...
Have three kids 16, 21, 22, and I have a bit more time for hobbies now that they are more looking after themselves!

Super-keen to get involved in and help the club - I'd love to get a project going to get a permanent table going at the site? Would that be possible?
My back hates the bending over for the battery swaps!    Biggrin

Hope to see you all in the air!

Hi everyone, I'm James. I just started into the RC plane hobby 3 months ago. 1 month on VR simulator and been flying my 2 electric planes the past 2 months, and I'm looking for a place to legally fly. The PRCAC is the nearest one. I understand this is the first step to become a member is to introduce myself. I would like to know about all the membership fees and insurance costs, and what are the next steps.
Is it possible to fly as a guest tomorrow Saturday 7th Nov?

Feel free to drop in and say hi!

There should be a few members out tomorrow, (I can't; kid's birthdays to attend Frown )
