It would be a good idea to do the top as well, I've put some on the sides 'cause that's where they allways seem to fail in tension when you do a cart wheel landing.
I'm trying to get a good comprimise between strength and weight. I know it's not going to be the lightest but I'm hoping not to make it too heavy either. It has to be reasonably tough because my one gets heaps of air time.
What did you mean by struts?
