Windrider SBD3 Dauntless
#1

Here is my latest addition to my hanger.

SBD-3 Dauntless in Battle of Coral Sea colours.
This is a Windrider Hong Kong airframe which I bought for
US$80 with free shipping.
I stuck it lucky when I was browsing the web one day when the had a free shipping offer and I could not refuse.Wink
Have installed Turnigy SK3 3536-1200Kv motor and 60A plush ESC.
Bench test 469W @ 50plus amps. Model is quite light so should go pretty good.
Airframe came with mechanical retracts that were causing me a bit of grief trying to set correctly so I have ended up taking the servoless retracts off my old P51 and installed them.
Apart from that she is stock, except I've weathered her up a bit as she was a very bright blue colour and it just did not look right for a warbird.I've also added some rivets and highlighted the panel lines.
Also, I've gone for the open cockpit look as that was how the Dauntless was normally flown, so I cut the canopy and stacked it in the centre.
Couple more photos.

Very nice PJ - your weathering job and the rivet details look great!
At 470W she'll have a power-to-weight ratio that the poor buggers who actually flew them could only dream of.
