For those like me who missed the SBS documentary on the Polish pilots of the Battle of Britian you can watch it on-line at
http://www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/
It appears that the show will be available for a week after going to air.

PS. It is well worth watching.

I also recorded it on my PC. I can provide a copy on DVD for anyone who wants a copy. Also recorded a good doco "Lancaster at War" (bomber) last week which I can add.

... and tonight at 20:30 on SBS1, Luftwaffe test-pilot Hanna Reitsch is the focus. There'll be some interesting planes featuring there, I'll bet!

G'day Steve

Is Hannah the chick who was largely a test pilot and flew ME262's during their development or do I have her confused with someone else?

I expected to see her testing 262's Rob, but they weren't mentioned. She did test the 163 though and loved it, even though she crashed one and was hospitalised for several months. The narrator of the show said that the 163 could climb to 10,000 metres (not feet) in 90 seconds, which I find hard to believe. I thought I read somewhere that their rate of climb was 11,000 feet/min - it would have been a helluva ride.

Tonight Monday ATN 7 - called the Airshow

Presented by Jeff Watson. Featuring Edwards Air Force Base in California. Best known for its place in Astronaut movie The Right Stuff, it was also the location for many groundbreaking achievements in the history of aviation.

Not a Documemtary, but Helicopter movie:
Blue Thunder - 9:30pm tonight on 7mate (CH73).
I've never actually seen it, circa the eighties, much liberties taken with physics etc I'm sure.

Some crazy airports out there. Gave me an appreciation that our airfield, on scale, matches some of the most extreme real airstrips. Proves that if we can fly and land at our field, we can fly anywhere.
