Hobbies in the Hills
#1

I went in there today and was pleasantly surprised. Stuart Kent, the owner, has expanded the shop upstairs leaving more space downstairs for RC stuff.

He has expanded his range of aircraft..ARF RTF BnF, and helis..thunder tiger. He now has a large range of battery connectors, XT60's Deans, Bullet etc, he is getting a range of batteries, HK.

He knows he can't compete directly with HK, but for convenience, he should do well. His prices certainly have dropped now that he has expanded, so that can't be a bad thing.

I'm not affiliated with him or his shop in any way, but I just wanted to save you a drive to caringbah or Liverpool. Smile

The shop is in Victoria Rd Castle Hill.

Yeah i have been up there a few times myself in the past for props, carbon etc wasn't a huge of range for rc planes.
But Its Good to hear that his starting to stock a lot more stuff for rc planes.
It would be nice for convenience wise to drop in and get some gear when needed even if it cost a little extra.

Hopefully he gets a good range of Props, Lipos, carbon, servos and all the nuts and bolts bits and pieces would be nice.
I Guess motors would be hard to stock as theres so many different ones.

Stuart has always stocked Hacker motors and batteries.

I always got the impression cars were the store focus. With Castle Hill Hobbies gone I guess there is a local market to consider differently now. Might drop in one day for a look see.

Thanks for the update BB.

That shop is where I bought my P 47 Thunderbolt, BNF @ $249 I thought was an exceptional local price. Had a big range of props as well.
Is well worth a look around.

I droped in today to pick up some fasteners rather than going to Ultimate (who is always out of stock).
I was more than impressed with the range of aircraft (he has pretty much every aircraft in the Parkzone range) and a heap of spares from ESC's batteries servo's etc.
I had never been there before.
His range of fasteners and all things home build was very impressive.
He had exactly what I needed. Well worth a visit guys.

After Gazz talked the place up when we were over at the field, Owen and I thought we'd take a drive over there.
Sure enough, tons of stuff, even though it doesn't give a promising impression from the entrance. Quite a few planes going at reduced prices on sale (Parkzone mostly), but E-flite and other kits available.
Owen got busted by the owner for fiddling with a train-set Smile
A very large selection of acrylic paints, and like Gazz says, plenty of stuff for the builder (... or repairer).

I think it would be smart of us to approach them on a proffesional level (email on club letterhead),
and ask them to give our club members a discount on presentation of our club card.
Even if it was only 5% it makes it worth you while to shop there which is good for both parties.
Cant hurt to ask... if you don't ask you don't get.

Gazz thats a great idea! I reckon Stuart would be up for it.

He rang me a little while ago & asked me to fix a guy's Blade 400 Heli (a heli i am "intimately" familiar with fixing), with the payment in the form of store credit, which I used up very quickly. Smile

That was simply to say that he is a proactive guy that would be open to something like a club discount.

Let's go for it. Never never know if we never never go!

Re club discount..
Has anyone told Stuart that your from the Parramatta Club?
I've been told that he will give you a discount but you have to
mention the club first. He does not just give discounts to everybody.
Next time I'm up there I'm going to see what he does....Wink

Hobbies In The Hills Has Moved
Droped in the Hobbies in the Hills today to pick up a few things and was met with a WE HAVE MOVED sign, so I thought I would let you all know where they are because it took me a while to find them.
They have moved about 100 meters further down Victoria Ave and are litterally on the corner of Victoria Ave and Gladstone Rd at the roundabout just up to the left of Rays Outdoors.

Dropped in today myself - they are still in the middle of setting up, and it looks like they are going to have a very nice store when it's all done.

BTW, if anyone was in the market for an Ultra-Micro, they had a good range of the Parkzone and E-flite types at the lowest prices I've seen anywhere (and hence the most tempting prices, as my updated signature and wallet will attest to.)

Im curious Claudius. With the range available from Eflite.... Why the beast?
I droped in last weekend as I said previously to purchase a UMX 4-site but after some discusssion with young whatisface, I changed my tune and ordered the Extra 300.
Now let me point out that they had UMX 4 sites on the shelf and told me I would have to wait for a week for the Extra 300....... I was very impressed with the service, they could have sold me the 4 site, put the money in the till and pushed me out the door, but they recommended I come back in a week to pick up the aircraft I need at an almost similar price.
I could have gone and got it from Model Flight and asked if they could match the price. They said "yeh no worries"
Good service, good product support and good pricing.
You could do a lot worse than the boys at Hobbies in the Hills, but I recon if you give them a chance they with go the exrtra mile and look after you.
PS:The new store looks set to make millions, their range of fasteners, rods and linkages is the best I've seen.
Plus they have Parzone, E flite and Seb Art aircraft falling out of the friggen rafters

Why not? Smile

Saw it at an indoor meet, and it looked like loads of fun , but better suited to the park flying I have in mind (although there's some mods on rcgroups for improved indoor trim).

Sbach 342 looks the business too.

Vini Vidi Visa. I came, I saw, I purchased.

Dark side ahoy!!

Followed the advice of fellow instructors and got me a PZ T28D. I can connect my DX4e (came with mCPx) but I am concerned it is not a "full range" transmitter. I'll have to remove the ARxxx RX out of it and get a FRSky Futaba FAAST RX for it. Anybody have one of those they might want to part with? Would also like to unload the ARxxx or whatever it comes with.

Go Dave.
I just picked up my indoor beastie. I was going to buy the UMX 300 but it is to flimsy for anything but dead still air so I bought the UMX SBAC 342... Yipee! From what Ive read its the ducks guts for indoor 3D..... with balls that is.
Now I can join you guys and fly indoor at Auburn.
