Come and join the MACC!
#1

Yes, the Mid-Air Collision Club - it's a hoot ... NOT!

I've joined the ranks of the exclusive MACC and of course we always join pairs, so I dragged KevB along for the ride - sorry about that mate Frown

So, there's Kieran and KevJ with their famous and glamorous foundation membership, also Gazz and Victor too, I believe - and now KevB and yours-truly. Have I left anyone out?

Who's going to be next?

I've noticed that the size and weight of the aircraft doesn't actually help with a prediction of who will emerge better off. My plane weighed about a kilogram and Kev's wouldn't be more than a couple of ounces but he suffered almost no damage. Now, where did I leave my araldite?...

As it happens Paul, we had agreed only seconds before that we would fly left-hand circuits - before that it was free flying! Next thing we're both in the same spot and then we're on the ground. That's our reward for being sensible I guess Wink

So, you're saying that KevJ is twice a member of the MACC? Looks like we have a club president!

I think it would be a shorter list to count those who hadn't hit anything Wink

In the boating world, the rule when approaching an oncoming vessel, is to pass to the right (american road rules). Do any such rules exist for our flying. Eg. from left to right swerve down & visa versa.
I am hoping to avoid MACC membership.

The actual aviation rule for aircraft meeting head on is the same at the maritime one.
"Both aircraft roll or turn right or to starboard"
If you are flying the correct circuit, there should be no such incident "theoretically"
The ones that catch you out is when the sneeky little suckers are performing arobatics and pull a nice immelman with a roll thrown in that will really catch you when you least expect it.

Maybe Steve should rename his new club to the MTOC (million to one club). That way Dingy can get entry as he wasn't airborne before that "million to one" incident... or was Dingy trying to imply that it was actually 10 to 1 ? Biggrin
