Helicopters - not just 3D!!
#1

Thought I would post some video of FAI F3C flying. I think there is a view that advanced heli pilots thrash their machines around like mosquitos sprayed with poison. Not so. There is more to flying helis ...

Very Impressive footage Dave.
Scott is quite obviously a master at his craft.
Enjoyed every second of that.

Thanks Dave,

I agree with Gaz, I enjoyed that sort of flying much more than the mortein style. Smile
The commentary helped a lot with it too.
I love watching you fly your heli because everyone can see what it's doing... (and you do it very nicely too.)

Thanks for the compliment BB. Appreciate it very much. Personally, I simply love F3C compared to 'smackdown' 3D hardcore. It is a whole other world of different helis, special rules (IC only and no flybarless), special set-ups, special gear, etc. Love it. So nice to watch. More like planes which are captivating when flown in aerobatic routines.

Hi Dave - good to chat down at the field today. Now I know what you were talking about when you mentioned the F3C style of flying!

Much prefer this to all that 3D stuff!

Will hopefully catch up next week.

It looks like you're right Dave - 'copters can do more ... can quadcopters therefore do four times as much? Quite possibly - these machines are autonomous, they're not being managed by human pilots off-screen.

Amazing.

If they spat the dummy & smashed the racquet, would that be committing suicide?

Gday Andrew

Nah mate, if a copter did that it would be renamed the John McEnroe Special Edition and sold at a premium price. I envisage it will also have a taser installed to assist with "discussions" with the umpire.

Want a laugh, check out this Japanese TV show as "grand master" pilots take their Eskys (no, not a brand of coolers) etc through an obstacle course to acheive glory. Some cracker stacks.

That Banzuke is bloody funny. !!!!
Some good and bad flying efforts in there.
I'd be keen to try some Banzuke style commentary next time Andrew is down with his camera. Thumbup
A KV hand launch would be a good start (Supera Handa Launchico), I think we all know who the next victim/ subject would be.( Danger aircrafto uncontrollo hai). Biggrin

Yeah Rob that would be fun. I'm not sure which would be funnier, the helis trying to monouever in amongst the aircraft in the pits from table to chair and car roof, or you speaking japostralianese..Just wait for the subtitles! Smile

I loved the guy dropping his baton!

I've looked it up & can't find the meaning of "drop one baton while still holding the other ". Smile

Gday Andrew

I would call a baton drop as stating "resume own navigation" or "you are leaving my airspace"

That is awesome! There would have been some serious coordination needed between the 2 pilots I think.

Dave, maybe there's something we can work on for 26th Jan 2012. Smile Wink (Or not)

BB, they are excellent pilots. In the boat video they were using Trex 600e's like yours.

Here is another with Trex 700e. Crazy dudes.

They are crazy for sure. I bet their next stunt will be to have enough Helis together to lift themselves off the ground!
Maybe they could build a single RC Heli large enough to do it solo.
Or even a Heli that has the controls integrated into it so RC isn't required,....oh wait.....Bell, Hughes, Robinson etc have done it already. Smile
