Spark ignition 2 stroke petrol engines seem to handle it up to a point.

But your right the reliability and power to weight ration of electric power systems really does have the edge untill you get up over the 50cc size ie more than 2.2 meter span aerobatic models.

Started to complete the Me163 but the turnigy serov's suggested by my brother were too large to fit into the capsules i have for it so will need to select something more suitable. Can't do anything until i get the servo's into the wings and wings fixed the o fuselage.

SO, I had the Freewing SU34 sitting there for Xmas-ish build so, i started.

Very little to do, except the usual wings elevators rudders etc. The most time was spent on programming my DX-8. There's plenty of info in the DX-7 but the menu's & sub menu's are different and this is also my first time at doing anything with mixes.

So for anyone with DX-8 that's thinking about a SU-34 here are the settings you need.
Firstly, i haven't used any Y leads and am using all 8 channels.

Below i have used and AR8000 receiver with satelite rx.

Receiver-Connect Vector 1 to AUX1 Vector 2 to AUX2 Vector 3 to AUX3. All channels are now used.

Select aeroplane and normal wing with 1 servo for both ailerons. Tail normal.

1. SERVO SETUP- leave this until later.
2. D/R - Expo- Set this up for however you like. Mine is set at 30% for aileron and elevator and 0 for rudder. Re-attack this after first flight/s
3. Differential, leave on INHIBIT
4. Throttle cut, Throttle curve and Flap system- don't change.
5. Mixing- here we go.
Mine is set so i can turn the thrust vectoring all on or off with one switch change, in this case Mix1. You can change this if you like.
I've created 5 mixes, 2 each for aileron & elevator- rudder vectoring is on constantly.
Move roller to AIL>RUD- press to accept. Scroll right 1 and MIX 1 should be flashing. Press to accept. move to INH>INH.
Change to ELE>AX1
Rate -100%
-100%
Offset 0
Trim INH
SW:Mix1

MIX2
ELE>AX2
Rate: -100%
-100%
Offset: 0
Trim: Inh
Sx:Mix1

MIX3
AIL>AX1
Rate: 100%
100%
Offset 0
Trim Inh
Sw:Mix1

MIX4
AIL>AX2
Rate: -100%

Ofset 0
Trim Inh
Sw: Mix1

MIX5
RUD>AX3
Rate: -100%

Sw: ON

Finally I needed to have my FLAP & AUX2 switch set to middle positions for the above to work. Not sure why as i've inhibited them in servo sertup. BUT its something to remember. Maybe you might know a fix for this?
That's it. You may need to go back to SERVO SETUP and reverse servo's A/R my elevator and rudder/NWS needed it.

That has taken me friggin hours of research reading and trial and error. I must however thank jmpdgs from RC groups as he gave me the idea on what i needed to do from his radio settings which was a JR9303.

I hope that helps. If you figured it out yourself- hats off. I could find nothing on the web for the DX-8

Read MAAA MOP015
Aircraft from 7 to 25 kgs are classified as Large
Aircraft from 25 to 50kgs are classified as Giant
Although all aircraft between 7 and 50 kgs are classified as Heavy Models and require a permit to fly.
The aircraft must be weighed without fuel but must be fitted with all flight batteries(Electric or Gas)
