There are some beautiful planes there!!!

I satisfied my hunger for a decent fly and flattened all my batteries (some, a couple of times), maidened my 3d faomie with great success and returned home very satisfied with the performance of all my aircraft.

It was a fantastic day with a beautiful clear sky and barely any wind.

Hi All
just a quick question regarding Tomorrow.
What Time will there be someone down the field to open gates ?
As hoping early fly before the heat sets in.

Thanks Steve Smile

What Do You Mean Theres a Throttle Curve ?, Its Either all the way up or all the way down Tongue_smile

For those coming to the field tomorrow (Sat 27/3) I will be there to open up from about 8-30am.
Not sure how long I will be staying on Saturday as I want to fly Sunday as well so I can not use up all my brownie points in one go.

Also does anyone have an APC 12 x 6E prop that I can borrow for a short while, as I can't get one at the present time. If you do and are coming down to the field tomorrow could you bring it along.

Thanks and let's go flying.

Chris M

Hi All
Going up the coast for the weekend, so I hope you all have a great weekend and will catch up next weekend.

Steve Smile

I've sent the family to Adelaide and built a new wing so I'm keen to fly all weekend! Biggrin Lol

Let's hope I can work out which side of the field to fly on this week Redfaceops: Frown

BTW, (for those who may be interested) the new wing is (or started out as) a NACA 2415. it sits on the plane at 5deg incidence (the previous wing was almost flat). I've increased the wingspan by about 4cm and increased the chord (by accident) by about 2cm. Overall, I think the new wing is significantly lighter than the old one but probably just as strong. COG will be my biggest issue in the first couple of flights (I think).

Hi all,
Sorry forthe late posting but I won't be flying today (Sat 10/4) but I will be flying tomorrow morning from about 8-30am.
I ended up opening the gates this morning at about 9-30 after Gary gave me a call saying that there were about 6 to 8 people whom have walked in.

I think we need to address this issue at the next committee meeting.
I don't mind opening up if I'm home, as I'm only 5 minutes away but this won't always be the case.
Perhaps those of us with access to a key and live locally need to give out our mobile numbers so that at least one of us can get to the field if need be.
Anyhow this idea is up for discussion.

Happy flying.
Cheers
Chris M

Thanks to Chris for coming to let us in and even hanging around to help some of the newbies with their flights. I had a great day and I know others really enjoyed themselves too. There was minimal carnage and all but one plane will be able to fly tomorrow (sorry Steve).

Con tried a maiden of his EDF jet. As it is mode 2, none of us could really help much. Here's the "before" picture...

Pretty horrid day with gusting winds making things nice and difficult. A few planes were lost to various "obstacles" :?

I was just digging through a few pics and had a thought, where the bloody hell is the orange safety vest!?

Hi Kieran,

I gave one to Steve & his son the one who was going to setup a tuck shop, I still have one in my car.

I agree we should be using them each flying day.

Yesterday while down the field I had a discussion
with a few people about the meaning of Left Hand Patterns
or Right Hand Pattern when flying in a group.
It appeared that a number of people had different views
on exactly what was the requirement. (possibly explains why some near misses lately) Redfaceops:
I decided to look it up on Google and the simple answer is that
left hand patterns means that ALL turns are made to the left, conversely
right hand patterns mean ALL turns are made to the right.
This of course means that at our field we ALL should be making left to right passes
above the runway when we are flying left hand patterns.
Hopefully this clears up any confusion and mid airs and near misses will be
less likely to occur. Smile

thanks for confirming that dad, so it is as i said .. imagining a clock face sat flat on our field and we stand at 6 o'clock then that mean left hand patterns are anti clockwise and right hand is clockwise...

I will have a Briefing with my Pilots In my Planes regarding Left and Right Patterns, but when there in the air there no good for Orientation as they just Close There eyes and prey for when i Land, if they haven't passed out already from the verticals and g force dives. Icon_twisted
