This new thread has been started in the General section of the forum so it is accessible to non PRCAC members who will be attending or thinking of attending the Aus week end Fly-In. Status details and event details will be posted here.

Contingency planning. Currently the weather is not looking the best for our field and for flying on Saturday. An inspection of the field today showed water pooling in the known low spots. The weather forecast for Friday is predicting rain and that would make the situation worse.

Keep watching this thread for updates on the status of our Fly-In. If the field become too water logged the Committee will reschedule the event to happen most likely in one or two weeks. There will be another inspection of the field on Thursday afternoon.

Following an inspection of the field this afternoon and a review of the weather forecast for the next 48 hours the Committee has decided it would be prudent to postpone Saturday’s Fly-in and reschedule to a drier day, hopefully within a few weeks.

This will disappoint a lot of pilots and the Committee would like to apologise for having to make this decision but if the weather goes as the forecast is predicting then pilots would be facing a bigger disappointment on the day having made a fruitless journey.

The Committee’s dilemma is not knowing for certain what the condition of the field will be on Saturday so the decision was made to err on the side of caution. If it turns out on Saturday that the field is flyable then the day reverts to a normal flying day and the Committee invites pilot to take the opportunity to get some practise in for when the event are eventually run. To help out with practise there will be a Committee member there to advise on the events planned and the rules. Conditions permitting the Committee will also put on a BBQ.

There will be more reports on the condition of the field late on Friday and early Saturday so please check the forum when you can.

There is also another incident to report, an apparently stolen car was abandoned at the field today. It was driven across the strip and has been reversed into the reeds but is clear of the landing strip. It should not cause a problem for planes landing or taking off so long as everyone stays away from it. The Police and Council have been informed but as yet we don’t know who or when it will be removed. The Committee is monitoring the situation as there is concern any tow truck involved in removing the car would be driven on the strip and damage it.

I just want to remind all the pylon racing pilots that you must be wearing a hard hat, helmet with chin strap when there is no normal flight line (as you are flying around yourself).
So now you have more time to get down to Bunnings with $9 to get a new one like I have.
   
Then you can use those faverate stickers you have been saving, knowing that they will have a longer live than being on a air frame. We can get Kevin to solve the more technical details like providing some elastic.

On race days we encourage pilots to have UHF radios, its a very good PA system to help run events. They are also cheap.

The weather report for next Saturday the 1st Feb is looking good so it has been decided to run the PRCAC Fly-In and Swap Meet on that day.

So start preparing now with all those items you want to sell or swap. The gates will be open from 8am and BBq will fire up from 11am.
