LiPo internal resistance meter
#1

For the first time in a long time, I get to fly tomorrow morning. Yay Smile

I'll bring an ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) meter with me. It measures the internal resistance of individual cells in a pack, as well as the overall pack resistance. A couple of people have asked me about the hand-written notes on my lipos with "real C" numbers, "FOM", max current, and so on (anally retentive? Me?!?).

The ESR meter can be used to determine whether reality matches what's printed on the label, whether a cell or pack is dying, and even the relative quality of the connector soldering job, if you've got more than one of the same type of lipo to compare.

It only takes a few seconds per pack, and it's totally safe and low-stress for the lipo. Let me know tomorrow if you're interested, and I'll be more than happy to measure your batteries. (I've only got XT60 and JST connectors presently, so we'd need adapters if you use something else.)

Safe landings!
