Honestly, as long you have COG correct, I don 't see why a different wing and tail plane would not work a trick.
I would make a lot slower kind of plane....

Sure thing it doesn't have to be so over powered you could put a rarebear motor in it and run it on 3 cells. It would be a lot lighter so it would be easier to land and it would still slip along as well.
I'll bring it along with the plans to our bushcare meeting on Saturday morning
