Hi guys (Dave & Russ), nice to meet both of you & welcome to our club. We are a sociable bunch who equally love to fly & socialise.
Was my pleasure to introduce you both to some hands on flying. Having a simulator is almost a must in learning to fly. Stick time trains the brain and that stick time is more freely available on the sim & crashes only take seconds to repair.
As you both are probably aware by now, the heartrate is somewhat different in the air with a real plane even with a buddied back-up. No need to be embarrassed with some wrong sticking, even the best of us get dumb thumbs sometime. Just blame your instructor, works for me.

Hi guys.

Took up flying 450-class heli's (Blade 400 and HK 450v2) a couple of years ago but due to work, family life etc I kept dropping the hobby every 6 months then taking it up again a year later. Got my AXN floater-jet last year and flew it a couple of times - LOVED IT! Despite the crashes, I started to get the hang of it...

But it's too difficult to find a place to fly in Sydney (I'm in the Inner West). I'm going to drop by sometime either this weekend or the one after and see how you guys operate, I'd love to join a club where I can drop by and put a few batteries through when I get time - which is difficult with kids as I'm sure you can all appreciate.

Is it OK to bring my boys with me? Aged 8 and 6. I'd love for them to see some decent pilots in action!!!

No problems Simon
Your kids are welcome as long as you supervise them and keep them clear from the flight line.
We fly mainly each weekend from about 8.30 till 2 ish, hope to see you down at the field soon.
Note; Most of the club members are flying at an invitational at a field further out west so there probably won't be many people around on Saturday or Sunday.

Thanks Gazz, will check it out sometime over the next couple of weekends. I take it that the field is open during the week but there's a lower turn out on those days due to those pesky day jobs in between???

Hi Guys,

I have been to the field 2 Saturdays in a row now to check out the environment.
The guys I chatted with were really friendly and it is a great place to fly.
I would appreciate the opportunity to meet with the committee and discuss possible membership.
I have been flying for 20 years now fixed wing mainly but recently multi-rotor has been a huge distraction.

Anyway please let me know when it would be convenient to discuss further at the field.

No worries Andrew - I'm expecting Kevin ("Servo") the Secretary around this evening and I'll give him the form. He'll write you an email message with directions for payment, including the amount and the Club's account details and you can then make an electronic transfer.

Remember as I mentioned on the weekend that under the MAAA's MOPs, you're covered insurance-wise for four (4) flying visits anyway while everything else is happening. One of the Club's instructors will probably have a chat with you before your first take-off and then stand by while you demonstrate a safe flight - after that, it's all good!

G'day

Thought I would put up post introducing myself, at the moment I have been flying with a few mates and am only new to the hobby. Currently flying a art tech mustang and whilst it was a bit of a learning curve I am now confident with it and have had a lot of good flight.

We are now looking to further this hobby and thought joining a club might be a good idea.

Will pop down one weekend to say hi in person and have a chat

be warned !!! when you come down your likely to get the bug and get right into it . hope if your married you have an understanding partner !!!!! plan your savings now . we're a great mix here and its a great club with heaps of variety and experience /interests . cheers

Welcome Andrew, hope you are not scared off by the "bug" carriers. Some have dozens of planes, some have just a few, some have seemingly endless supplies of money for planes & equipment & some save prolongedly. You can spend thousands on just one plane or get one in the air for under $50 if you already have a transmitter. The choice is yours (or the Mrs ).
One thing guaranteed, you will freely spend many hours socialising with a great bunch of guys.

Hi All.

Some of your members will already know me as I've flown at your club a number of times in the past 18 months as an associate from the MMSC but have finally joined the PRCAC as a member. I also work with Chris M and Ingo.

Ive been flying RC off-and-on since the late 1970s and in the past I flew with the MMSC and the SRCS until I gave it up for full scale glider flying at RAAF Richmond for about 10 years. I took RC flying up again about 6 years ago and rejoined the MMSC until they recently moved to a new field that was a bit too small for my model types.

My favourite models are mainly warbirds (both propellor driven and EDF types) but I have a full range of semi-scale model types at home (some still waiting to be unboxed). As with most RC flyers I have way too many models (thank god for HK).

Looking forward catching up with everyone and getting some more regular flying in.

I think there was at one stage, only one country that had more pilots per capita than Australia and that was NewZolland. I'm not sure if that included Tasweigia tho'

Introduction time.
I'm John, I dropped in to the field last Sunday and met a few members. I haven't done anything serious with model planes since school, and that was a long time ago. After chatting a bit on Sunday I'm reading up on this electric technology to get it straight in my head. I have a background in electronics so it's not all that unfamiliar although some of the terms are a bit different.

As indicated when we last spoke, I am happy to give you a flight of my apprentice but you will need your own spectrum compatible transmitter if you intend flying mode 2.
Let me know on the "Sticky, flying this weekend" thread when you are coming & I will bring it along with me to the field. I will only be flying Saturday this weekend.

Thanks Wayne. After much reading I've decided to buy an FrSky Taranis TX and spektrum module. HobbyKing have them on back order. I may buy a 9tx if it takes too long to get the Taranis as it will take the same module. A thread on the rcgroups forum says it will work with a spektrum TX and jr cord. I'll let you know when it arrives, there's no great hurry.

I saw a long thread on a Lancaster that HobbyKing was trying to get off the ground. Pity it failed, I would have liked that as dad flew as a navigator with 617 Sqn.

Hi All,

New to the hobby here. Got myself a hobbyking bixler 2 at Christmas and had a disastrous first flight. Got a few minutes and a couple of crashes out of it, then this:





Have ordered a new body and will assemble in my spare time...

I really need help with the flying thing though. I'm hoping a local club may be able to help me out with that. (I live in Toongabbie).

What's the go with getting to know folks, do I just drop down to the field on any weekend and say hi?
