X-8 FPV Ship - Claudius - 17-04-2012

I've long had a particular fascination with the flying wing. However, I've never actually owned an RC flying wing. I decided to fix this deficiency. After un-boxing today's arrival, it occurs to me I may have overcompensated slightly.

(no, that is not an ultra micro Stinson)

I do like the looks of that too, but it's not a variant. For one, it's "tiny" - about a foot and a half shorter Smile

Wings remove, so that should be ok. Once I figure out where I can actually fly it Smile

Wife expressed her tremendous disappointment... that I didn't hold out for the carbon-fibre vinyl covered one. Biggrin

What motor lipo and ESC are you going to use to power it ?

Hacker A30-10XL v2 with a Castle ICE 75.

Not sure on batts yet - will probably begin by just paralleling up a couple 4S 2200mAh batts I already have and see how it goes. From RCG, seems like there's a a pretty wide range of options here - from 3/4S with a few thousand mAh, through to some folks running 4S/16000mAh, 6S/10000mAh etc.

It's a decent size at 1.5m span it should be able to carry some gear.
flying weight is suposidly 2.4Kg

Very nice. Looks like a beauty. I wouldn't have guessed the size from those pics!

RE: New Addition to the hanger. - Claudius - 26-05-2012

Got some hangar time in today on the X-8.

Almost ready - just need to fit control rods, electronics and motor, as well as fixing a great number of cosmetic screw-ups (all mine) that won't matter one bit when it's at 300ft. And perhaps glass the nose, and under wing-tips and body, for some landing protection, as soon as I figure out how...
