That looks awesome! Have any profilers you'd like to sell!? I'm after a big one to use all my 3s 2200's.

Hmm, still interested, you can never have too many batteries
My thoughts of 3s stems from this:

Steve,
I'm interested but just not sure I have the skill to control one just yet.

INDOOR FLYING at UTS Lindfield Wednesday 2nd December, all welcome.
The court is available from 6.05pm, not 6.30 as previously advertized. Any questions give me a call on 0407 653 846.
Ask for directions to the basketball court from Security at the front entrance ( enter bythe main entrance and turn right, the court is on that level).

Steve,
If I give you a pdf, is it difficult to transfer to your cutting machine? Do you have to have a dxf file or such like?
If you could, I'd like to work out how to get it so you could cut me the parts for one of these.
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1046798
This looks like it would scale to a nice size for indoor flying. I think a 60cm or so wingspan would be easy.
Alternatively, I could probably do the re-cad drafting for you.
Please send me a private message with some contact details and we can talk offline.

Steve,
I've worked out how to turn the pdf into a dxf. Now I just need a friend with an inventive heart, a cnc machine and who is willing to sell me a sheet of depron
(I can supply the beer or other suitable refreshments whilst we watch
).
I did try cutting the airframe out of signboard by hand and, when weighed, it comes to 177g already! Considering their build thread says they can get the AUW down to 7oz (200g) or even 4.5oz (135g), I'm pretty hozed before I start. I'm thinking of using 9g servos, a 500mA 2s pack (36g), 16g Rx pack and a 16g motor (additional 86g!). With all these heavyweight components, I can't afford a heavweight airframe.
I figure the motor has about 300g thrust and will need every bit
.
I'm not thinking I want to buy new gear which is lightweight just for this as a tester but after testing one it might prove tempting to make the indoor work a goer.
Drew.

Hi Drew
Here is a link for the depron.
http://www.depron-australia.com
Glue here:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... ue_(Medium)
I would use 6mm for out door, 3mm for indoor.
$130 would get you 10 medium sized models at 20 sheets.
I was thinking of some grey and building one of these.

Don't worry about dxf or mill cutting it takes too much time.
Just scale the pdf, then print to A4.tape up sheets and cut with a sharp knife

Woo Hoo!!!!
I just got the third axis (Y) of my CNC connected and they all seem to move in a sensible pattern. I'm going to try and draw a spiral tonight (brownie points allowing - I have been building all day).
It is so cool to see computers actually moving stuff about.
I'll take some photos and maybe a video. My plans were the JGRO, translated to metric and adjusted for a slightly larger working area.

It would be cool to see some Video of it in Action.
Also was thinking of making a whole heap of these
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=11440
So we could have a combat flying sessions.
I wonder 12mm depron (6mm doubled up) as a thickness maybe ?
A whole heap cut up on cnc would be nice.
Just got to get some plans.

Here's some photos. The video is a little like watching paint dry. I'll edit bits out and speed it up.
To test backlash, I thought I'd draw a spiral. I'm quite happy with the results. THe glitch in the middle is bcs I was playing with feed speeds and lost a few steps.

Hey, watching paint dry is a favorite past time, means I've finished brushing the bloody paint on!
I have some bits in my car for you... I've taken them to the field a couple of times but always missed meeting up. Nice looking CNC, if you are offering to give a demo of it working I could be persuaded to deliver the bits to your door.

The video came out mega grainy. I'll try again in daytime.
I'll skip daytime flying to be at indoor Saturday night.
If I get a chance, I'll rig a tool holder and then it'll be worth coming for a look. Maybe by then, I'll have a box of bits for you too.
