Openpilot. - BOB - 17-07-2015

Hi everybody. I’ve decided to start a post about my favourite control board open pilot the benefits of our members and also visitors.
OpenPilot is a next-generation Open Source UAV autopilot created by the OpenPilot Community (an all volunteer non-profit community).
The is 2 types of board the first one is CC3D has been around for a while. The second one is Revolution Revo for short it comes in two forms one is a normal sized board the second one called Nano is a micro version for small quad such as 250 size due to be released soon?.
Below are links to several website that may be helpful.

Kind regards, Bob.

You should add the the controllers can also be used with fixed wing as well as rotary wing aircraft, Bob.
The CC3D one doesn't support a GPS receiver so doesn't have position hold and return to home.
The Revo board has GPS support, not sure about the current firmware.

How does it compare in price to the HK clone of the APM master set at around $177 for the controller GPS OSD telemetry transceivers, distribution board BEC and power monitor and cables?

I couldn't find where the pricing page was, it looked like the online store was under maintance

Looks like a nice full featured controller, I'll be keen to see how it flies !!

Hi Jason. That’s the Australian store that has been closed for several weeks, however the American store is running webpage below, just visited it and it looks like most of the stock is out of stock?, I had a look on RCgroups , and they had a link to a website similar to eBay who were selling some but
I forgot to save the link, they had Revo with GPS for $150 USD.The problem with open pilot is. I can’t get in touch with anybody from the website they simply do not answer my post or email. The problem is I like the software especially the Wizard it is much easier to use than mission planner and the other software, they have several really good video’s explaining how to set it up and it is pretty good but I still have several questions that the videos don’t answer?.

Kind regards, Bob.

I just had a look at the US store, the only one I can find is a nano Revo. I wonder if that is the only one they are going to build?

The kit with GPS and all cables is USD104.00. Not sure about shipping.

Hi John. Both Revo/Nano are meant to be available I think ???, Below is some websites that I visited none of them seem to be selling the actual Revo/Nano. This is one of the problems with open pilot no one seems to know what’s going on at all, anyway I sent an email to HobbyKing asking them will them be selling the Revo or Nano HobbyKing cell an earlier board called CC3D and pay royalties to open pilot least they do the right thing.

Kind regards, Bob.

I've got some of the nano CC3D units in a drawer here Bob. I'm thinking of seeing if one will stabilise a suitably shaped sheet of cardboard.

RE: Openpilot. - BOB - 19-07-2015

Hi John. Very interesting I’d certainly like to see that. You know how to program CC3D board?, There are a couple of really good you tube videos explaining how did do it the only problem I had with understanding how the CC3D was programmed was with selecting the right ESC.

I need to correct an earlier post the Revo is not available any more only be Nano. The videos that I spoke about in earlier posts are two years old so of limited use so sorry for the wrong information.

Kind regards, Bob.
