RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - gbanger - 25-03-2011

I will only be having a quick fly in the morning, have a busy schedule tomorrow.
Just checked the weather because we have light rain out.
Hope it pisses off, doesnt look to promising for the morning at this hour.
Gazz

Gday Gazz/ All

We had some light rain here in toonie last night however it was all pretty minor. It looks visually a bit ominous now but the radar is indicating that the crap stuff is mainly coastal. Looks ok to fly however bring your crosswind brain as there is a blustery southerly puffing away.

Cheers

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - smuzz - 26-03-2011

Yes Rob - the situation is much the same even now (9:00am). Quite gusty - although I can see John Hale, Wayne and Dave at the field with a pair of binoculars from my house. I can also see that the gates are still shut too, which means an undignified scramble back out of there on foot if it does start to rain Frown Bugger that.

Update: I sit corrected, the gates are now open!

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - secant0give - 26-03-2011

A gray sky with little contrast, wind at times quite gusty, challenging conditions conditions but certainly flyable.

I brought an old friend Frank with me to the field today. He hasn't flown for years so I thought I might drag him along to see the way electrics fly these days and how much things RC have changed.

Had a great morning despite the wind and bad sky

Jason

Hi Guys,

Shall be going down in the morning around 7.30am to open.

Nice flood, I've seen that picture before BUT with a differnt date on it.

Nice choice Wayne I dont't think you will be sorry with that new plane.

I found the Electrafun the other night & converted it to 2.4Ghz.

Not to mention the the new motor stiffened wings & sounds great!!

Will it fly? Dunno find out tomorrow...I'm excited!!!!

See you all in the morning.

In armidale on Saturday but hope to be back for flying on Sunday

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - gbanger - 02-04-2011

First light looking good. See you all at the field at 8.30.

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - Drew - 02-04-2011

A good day for the few that braved it. THe wind was blowing but gently and consistenly so flying was fine. THe v. little craft were grounded though.
THe loger grass on the runway proved tricky for several resulting in several sumersault landings. This didn't phase Jason, Gary or Steve L. due to skill or Dave due the the lack of requirement for the runway altogether Biggrin.

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - brotherblonde - 02-04-2011

Hopefully I'll be down there Sun AM for a bit. I've decided to land the spitty on the runway instead of the trees & reeds. Yes I know, I'm being a boring conformist, but it's cheaper that way. Wink

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - smuzz - 02-04-2011

What happened to Dingy? - we thought he was going to be there nice and early to open up and put the kettle on for us Smile
See you tomorrow Ingo?

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - gbanger - 02-04-2011

I will be opening up tomorrow morning at around 8.30, hope that Darren is mowing early the field badly needs it.
Weather looks good. See you there.
Gazz

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - smuzz - 03-04-2011

Wow - when are we next going to see conditions as good as they were today?
It was "simulator perfect" over there today - it's 3:40pm now and I can see that there are still some fliers on the field!

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - brotherblonde - 03-04-2011

You are right, Steve,

perfect conditions. No excuses today, I HAD to land on the runway!! Smile (& I did! )

Smile

Yeh Andrew - I was saying the same thing about my own flying, but as Owen mentioned - it was a bit easier to pick up the runway in our peripheral vision with it being freshly mown. Correct!

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - paulj - 03-04-2011

Sounds like I missed a good weekend.
Safely back in Sydney now. Got home around 2pm this afternoon.
It's been a dramatic week for the Johnston's.
Kev's step daughter Emily had her tonsils out on Monday.
Kev ended up with a partially colapsed lung and spent 24 hours in Blacktown hospital
on a mixture of drugs to prevent his bronchitus from becoming pneumonia,
and now to top it off Emily had a bleed last night and had to be admitted back into the
Childrens Hospital at 3am this morning.
Funny how things always seem to happen when we go away. Frown
Anyway on a happier note Pat and I had a great time up in Qld's visiting our other grandkids
and I'm now looking forward to getting some virtual flying in this week.

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - brotherblonde - 03-04-2011

Paul, please pass on our regards and thoughts to Kev. I hope he recovers quickly. (And to Emily too)

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - smuzz - 03-04-2011

Yes, ditto Andrew's comments - we were only saying today that Kev was missed again at the field.

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - paulj - 03-04-2011

Thanks guys, saw kev tonight and he still sounds crook.
Reckons he is well enough to go back to work tomorrow so
we are hoping that he is on the road to recovery.
Emily is still in hospital until at least tomorrow afternoon when the
doctors will assess if she is well enough to return home.
All in all a pretty horrible week for them let's hope things start to improve.

No excuses for me either. My instructors conspired to cut the umbilical cord as it were, and so it was first "solo" for me. Could hardly have picked a nicer day for it.

Special thanks to Owen and Gary for the mentoring over the past couple of months. Genuinely appreciated!

And also to Chris and Jason for their sage advice on the flight line while the peanut gallery gave their "encouragement" Biggrin

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - gbanger - 08-04-2011

Sorry team
I have to work in the morning and wont be down at the field before 10.30 at the earliest.
Somebody else will have to open up.
Gazz

Cheers

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - smuzz - 08-04-2011

Yes Simon - I can bring a couple of options along to make the measurements with.

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - brotherblonde - 08-04-2011

Won't be there Sat, but will on Sun. Darren is giving me some money!!!!!!!

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - dingy - 08-04-2011

Hi Guys,

Can open up tomorrow between 7.30 & 8.00am & stay a few hours.

I've have a tacho & will bring it tomorrow.

Paul sorry to hear about Kev & Emily - wish them all the best & speedy recovery.

See all you guys in the morning.

Dingy

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - Skidz - 08-04-2011

Netball season has started and I am designated driver/spectator tomorrow morning. Sunday is a go'er. If I get some servo extension leads 30cm x 1 and 50cm x 1 then there is a chance the Logo 600 could get airborne this Sunday. Does anyone know if Ultimate have these? Not on their website. Will phone in the morning and check otherwise I might be forced to drive to Kelletts (all in the name of a Sunday maiden).

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - gbanger - 08-04-2011

Hey Dave
As you would expect I have a library or high quality servo extensions.
I have 150mm, 300mm, 450mm and 600mm JR quality leads. I will bring a 300 and a 600 down with me tomorrow, or you can drop by and pick the suckers up, your choise.
By the way Engineers use mm dressmakers use cm.

Hi Gazz, you da man!

Pls bring the 150mm as well as the others.

PS. Know the difference between an engineer and a technician?
An engineer knows more and more about less and less until he knows everything about nothing.
A technician knows less and less about more and more until he knows nothing about everything. Biggrin

... and I'll mend your dress for you next time you snag it.

RE: Sticky: Flying this Weekend... - smuzz - 09-04-2011

It's 3:30pm and flying conditions are perfect at the field - no breeze at all, just like last Sunday.
Really tempted to go back over there ...

All I know is trade secrets and I cant tell you them, 'cause if I do then they won't be secrets any more, and then, I'll know nothing at all Confused

Sometimes we use good christian measurements like thou' as well, but only for Pommy or Yanky stuff. Biggrin
