Recently I have had to replace the motor in my T28 due to the original unit developing cracks in the plastic part of the bell, which in turn allowed the shaft of the motor rotate independently of the bell.
As there are a number of these planes in our club I thought it would be useful to others if I documented the exercise, so here is what I have done.

I have chosen to replace the original motor with a Turnigy 35-36C 1100kV as it is a good quality motor for its price.

Unfortunately the Turnigy does not screw straight onto the original motor mount, so I have constructed a new mount from some 25mm stand offs and 3mm aluminium plate which picks up the original mounting holes on the firewall. See the attached drawing for the details of these parts.

As it turns out anyway the plastic mount was cracked and from what I have read from other threads it is recoomended that using a more powerful motor requires a stiffer and stronger mount.

The images below show the mounted up motor.

Using 25mm stand offs require the cowling to be modified as shown below.

Once this is done the cowling can be refitted.

The original prop does not fit the Turnigy motor so a replacement is required and this is where I'm at now.

I know some of our members have already replaced the motor in their T28, so could I please get some feedback on the prop size and if you have used the original ESC what timing setting did you use. I powered mine up with the original prop, which I modified to fit the shaft, only to find the motor missing at full revs - it was drawing 28amps. The E-Flite manual for the ESC indicates that for a 14 pole motor either standard or high advance timing can be used. Any thoughts or experience?

We are racing at Pittown on the 30th.
All electric aircraft are welcome in Q500 sport. Ten laps is 100mph in less than 2 minutes.
F400 and F3d go a bit faster.
Practice is on Saturday. Cost is $25 which includes field hire and Fuel. May have to review it for non fuel aircraft.

Hi Guys,
I was down Ultimate Hobbies at Parramatta this afternoon for some retail therapy of the plane kind and got taking to the sales guys.
One guy was quite interested in where we fly at Toongabbie and the other then said that they are trying to find a venue in the area to conduct indoor flying of a similar nature to that the H Store runs at Menai.
If they are successful in obtaining a venue I thought this may be of interest to some of our club members. I will enquire with them from time to time and keep you informed.

Also for those in the Ermington area, in particular Kendal Reserve, the 1st sales guy said that he was looking at forming a club and trying to secure Kendal for their field with the council. It does pose a few problems the worst of which is the helicopter traffic that uses the river as a flight path, so a maximum height restriction would have to be adhered too.

While watching Steve,Kieran and Kev flying their
Funjets I was struck with how much they looked like the
Space Shuttle especially when doing high alphas into the wind
and when gliding in on approach.
Sooooo, I now present Parra's own Space Shuttle...............

Weather permitting, she will maiden tomorrow.

After being without internet access for the last 10 days
I'm back...(thank god) Smile Smile
Had a lot of problems with my internet providor who
stuffed up my initial request for support and then only
expedited my request after a huge blast from me.(long story)
Anyway finally at 6:30pm tonight they got me going again and I'm
hoping it's now all ok.
I feel lost without internet these days and I have heaps of email
to go through.
Good to see things here are normal anyway.
cheers
