These beauties are awesome to fly, paintwork commenced today on mine:

Wings will be done in the same colour.

Also plan to replace the wheels with something slightly larger
Looking Good Smile Kieran

Like the color you have used looks good and should stand out well in the air.

Just put mine together after day out, i thought it would be hard but it was quite easy.

Looks great, is that colour Red or Bright Orange, unfortunately my monitor is not colour corrected. It seems like yellow, red and white have been taken. With my eyesight I need a very visable colour so was thinking about bright orange for the wing tips with Normandy strips at the wing roots.
Its supposed to be cherry red but yeah, the grey foam and dodgy job from me have dulled it a bit.

is there a primer coat or undercoat under the cherry red?
Did any of you guys do any flying today?

like the colour of your T28 Kieran.

Paul
Nah, this is just 2-3 coats straight over the stock grey foam. The paint was waterbased gloss enamel and Floetrol to help it through the airbrush, I think Darren also added some isocol to get it to go off quicker.
hey guys go the trojan thread!
lol look what i started in this club! its a trojan revolution!
i have my replacement motor in tonights order so unless HK sell 161 in the next couple of hours ill have her back in the air next time im down there!
time to paint my own now.. Biggrin
hey guys just to get it out there , im repainting my trojan grey fuse with white wingtips and some black on it also and will be sticking with navy decals.. seeing as tho darren beat me to the yellow Wink

Does that mean that mine can stay original color as no one else has same original white red as you are painting yours kev.
But i was anyway thinking going purple , same color as the bottom of my Funjet as the main body color and tail.

Steve
hey steve,
your good to go steve if you want to leave it white feel free .. my trojan is like a dog from the rspca at the moment ( a bitsa) so i need to paint it to tidy her up, i loved the white originally but its too far gone Icon_twisted
steve,
just to confirm mate i had a look at my "pieces" last night and ill definately be painting Smile

i have a white/red cowling , grey wing, white/red canopy, grey/white(cut and shut) fuse , and a white horizontal stabiliser .. so clearly she will need a repaint Lol

im actually pretty happy with the pieces i have to work with now, i am looking forward to the challenge of rebuilding..
im going to be running a 35-42 1250 KV with a 10 x 5 MAS on 3S 2200 30C's :ugeek:.

Im looking forward to getting it back up in the air as having not flown it for a few weeks and seeing them on saturday they were screaming through the air.. Icon_twisted
Thanks for that Kev, sounds like you got an extensive paint job to do on the Trojan.
I gonna leave mine the way it is for the moment, just want to get it airborne, hopefully get down there for a few hours on Saturday
morning.

Steve
All Finished!
That looks really good Top Job Kieran 8-)
Did you get new stickers or peeled carefully the original and re used.
great job mate , i like the wings done too it looks sweet.
Very nice Kieran.
She has come up really well.

Paul
Thanks, all credit to Darren who found the way to airbrush cheaply and showed me how! The stickers are the original ones, very carefully peeled off and put on wax paper, The trick is to reapply them just as the paint is going tacky and they should stick better.
hey what sort of tape did ye use to mark the lines, i am concerned about the masked area ripping off the other paint as i go..
The crappest, cheapest nastiest stuff that you can find! Any good stuff will rip off the paint. Also insert paper or doubled over tape where you can, I basically just used the sticky parts on the leading and trailing edges and covered the sticky stuff in between with reversed tape.
By the way, T28's are IN stock at Kelletts right now, better hurry if you want one!

i already have 1 and a half Lol
i thought id post up a progress pic of my T28 , its been through the wars but its coming together. clearly it needs a paintjob which im hoping will clean her up abit but i think the main thing is that it still flies..

i have had to use bits and pieces of mine and darrens orginal to make it work , and ive had to cut th cowling to fit a 35-42 1250kv in there, its running a 10x5 but after testing amps tomorrow i should be right for an 11 x 7.

im also installing flaps even tho the plane doesnt need them, i just want to. i have the servo's in place and after a long time tonight i think ive got the mix right and the servos functioning as they need to.. i have some temporary tape on the underside at moment just until i cut the actual flap section out tomorrow nite when i get a heap of blades from the latest order...
the plane could be flown now if i just taped up the servo wires but i would rather finish the flap mod first.

cant wait to get flaps finished and clean her up, lick of paint and what not, im hoping for much much better verticals which ill be dissapointed if i dont get and slower landings... anyways im just having fun putting it back together so no matter how it goes it will be fun to fly her.. Biggrin
I give the Trojan a test flight before painting to make sure all is well, but yes finish off the flaps before flying.
Looks like there was no damage to it though, good job in repair. Smile

Steve

yeah ill bring her down next week unpainted to test and for the record there was damage alright Biggrin
Looking good Mate, better than a bought one Biggrin Biggrin
We'll have to think of a good name for her now.
Bit like "Heinz" (57 varieties). Wink

Paul
Quick update, received programable battery monitor Today.
Quite a nice unit though i noticed it buzzers if lipo exceeds 4.2 volts per cell when connected and stops when goes below.
I think this could be handy when charging batteries with an indication if batteries are being over charged ?

Stock Esc in Trojan has a cut off at 9.2 volts or 74% of battery whichever is higher as per manual.
Thus programming battery monitor would be set at 3.2v per cell (9.6v) giving ample time for safe landing when buzzer sounds.

I was thinking the same thing Paul - it is looking amazingly good considering the shape(s) they were both in!

As for a name, my suggestion comes from that ground-breaking British comedy 'The Young Ones' a few years ago: "Helen Back" or perhaps just "Helen" (been to Hell-n-back, which is about right in this case - apologies to all real "Helens").

See you tomorrow Gents, the BoM says "Mostly sunny. Winds tending light to moderate northwesterly and afternoon northeast sea breezes."
hey steve i quite like that name , i may use that.. Smile
perhaps ill have it like signed on the cowling.. 8-)

Great name Steve, i think it would be fitting. Smile
