Hi guys, just thought I'd share some photo's of my new charger I'm starting to build up - 60KW (yes 60,000 watts of pure charing power Smile ) That's almost 5,000Amps at 12v Smile
[Image: 60Kw.JPG]

Just joking, we just decommissioned 30 DL380G5 servers from work, so I grabbed all the power supplies. Each supply is 1000W (12.15v 82.3A) on 240V AC, and I now have 60 to share.

The beauty with these supplies is that the dual fans are temperature controlled, so they are nice and quiet. Simple mod to get them running - just 2 pieces of short wire and a soldering iron and you're done.

With a 10K multi turn pot, and a 6K8Ohm resistor, you can up the output voltage to 14.4v (over volt shutdown at 14.45v).

You can solder on output wires, or just use aligator clips to connect your charger to the outputs. I'd recommend insulating the clips just in case they shift and touch - it wont damage the supply, but it may damage your clips or charger.

Once the field dries out, I'll bring some down.

Cheers
Dennis
Hi Dennis,
I would love to grab two if you don't mind.
One of the ones I got last time was dead so I only got one for my son.
Thanks very much for getting them for us it is appreciated.
cheers
Paul
Hi Dennis i Think you will have a few Takers in Power Supplies Including Myself as i have a few Invention ideas in the making, being a Electrician. Those Power supplies will work nicely i Think.
If its ok i will like to get about 4 of them.

Steve Smile

Yes a very generous offer which is appreciated by everyone at the club, Thanks Dennis
And love the Tech Specs of the Units, Inputs, outputs sticker as well as the info.
put me on the list
G'day all

Funny that, I woke up this morning and realised there was a huge void in my life.
In an almost instantaneous moment of clarity i identified 60kv of charging capacity would fill that void perfectly.
I'm in

Cheers
Rob B
Put me down for one thanks Dennis
Once again, thanks for the effort and the thoughtful gestuer.
I'll stick my hand up for one too if there are any left. Thanks so much

welcome to the world of rc flying DENNIS . bring down the decathlon and we'll have a look , is it built yet . ?
Good to meet you today Dennis, and thanks for the supply - measly 2A wall-wart power supply retired after a hard life, new supply already modded and currently (no pun intended) pumping bulk amps into my charger (which doesn't know what hit it! Thumbup )
Did someone (could someone) grab a supply for me? I wont be there today (Sunday).
Jeez i was there sat . I didnt know dennis was there. If someone sees him can they grab a supply or to for me please

Sorry about that Frank, I didn't know I was going to make it there on Sat until the last minute, so couldn't post back here in time.

I'll let you all know on Friday if I can get there next weekend.

Glad to help out with these supplies - they are a great source of power Smile

One thing I meant to mention above, as you need to connect the two pins together from top (34) to bottom (31), don't drill a hole and add a wire that way. Apparently the PCB is multi layered, with an earth layer running in the middle, so if you put a wire through - it won't work.

Cheers
Dennis
Bump for this thread.... has there been any new news about getting some more power?
I was going to try to get there this weekend, but depends on the weather I guess....

Worst case, I have a trailer load of stuff for the tip and I could drop some in on the way through.

I'll post a comment in the morning if I can make it on Sat morning on Sunday.

Cheers
Dennis
Hey guys. I'm planning on passing through on Saturday morning a bit after 9 as I need to head to Toongabbie to get some timber.

If there is anyone there, I'll drop off a box of 15 or so (depending on how many I can get in the box) and hopefully someone there will be able to take them and re-distribute them.

Hope to see someone there Smile

Cheers
Dennis
Yes, if someone could hold one for me and post back you have it, I will collect. I wont be able to get to the field at all this weekend.
OK Dave (... and others), Dennis dropped by the field this morning and kindly left me a box of supplies, along with a list of names. I've got them in the boot of the car, so all good.
thankyou , denniss and steve , please hold one or 2 for me , i havent received any as yet . thanks guys .
Hi Steve, same situation as Frank, no power supply.
How can I pick one or two up? Call round tomorrow?

John C.
No worries John - I'll be over at McCoy for a couple of hours tomorrow morning ... I usually stagger in at the crack of 10:00am. Feel free to drop by after that if it suits you.
Hi Steve
I'll still be working at Darren's tomorrow as Temora
is approaching at a rate of knots.
Can you please hold a couple for me and hopefully I'll pick
them up next weekend from you.
Thanks
