Hi all.

I thought I better touch base with you all.

There are 2 reasons why I haven't been at the field for a while..

1. Crappy weather. Smile

2. I injured my shoulder at work in July & have been on worker's comp since then (thank God). I just had an MRI & another visit to the Orthopaedic Surgeon yesterday, and as the topic title says...."Surgery."

It's scheduled for Oct 12th.I may or may not get down to the field before then...I'll see how it goes for a little Heli fly next door to see how the pain is in the "transmitter position".

The prognosis is a guess at the moment, depending on how much work he has to do inside the shoulder. ie: short recovery or long..

If I don't see you guys in person for a while, I will definately be active on the forums & adding smart comments where appropriate (or inappropriate).

As far as flying the real one's go......well I don't think I will be for the rest of the year. As I said, thank God for worker's comp....and drugs. Smile

cheers.
Hi Andrew,

Sorry to hear about this buddy, I know what your going thru because my back is really playing up. Drugs to go to sleep etc..

All the very best to you & your family & hope your back on track sooner rather than later.

Ingo
Sorry mate to hear that. I hope its not too serious and your are back and flying soon and filming as usual.

Hope to see you at the field before the Op.

Take care and best wishes.

George

Hi Andrew, 3 cheers for workers comp eh!
Sorry about the shoulder.
Im sure you are doing all the right things but if you are after a second opinion or would like it seen to sooner rather than later. My wife is the practice manager for one of Sydneys (in fact Australias) leading young shoulder surgeons. Just thought I would let you know.
Hope you get it sorted soon.
Gazz
Thanks for your comments and wishes, guys.

That's a kind offer Gazz, but unfortunately with WC, I'm sort of locked in. I'm happy with the guy I'm seeing (that sounds SO wrong), my wife used to work with him & his boss many years ago (she was a nurse at an hospital that did ortho's)...very confident in his abilities. Sooner would be better than later, but I think I'll pass the time at P'matta online. Smile
Gazz, PS, my wife asked who it is? She may know him....It would be funny if it was the same guy as I'm seeing.
Sorry to hear the news Andrew.
Hope shoulder heals quick.

Paul
yes, I'm sorry too to hear of your injury Andrew...hope you get fixed up soon.
How is your Durafly spitfire going? Mine is still in need of some minor repair...somehow lost the battery for it during the house move.......grrrrr
6 days 21 hours and 19 minutes to go.....but who's counting??
flying a ground vehicle takes a bit of getting used to from one pilot to another hope you're on the mend sooner rather than later best regards
G'day Andrew

Hope the trip to the cutter goes well today.
See you back in deck soon.

Cheers

Good To Hear All Went Well, Take Care

Steve Smile
Looking forward to seeing back down at the field BB, glad the surgery was a success
You haven't really miised all that much though it is STILL raining and our field is STILL a quogmire.
My wife is curious and would like to know the name of the doctor that did your surgery? She probably knows him.
Hi Gazz,

Dr Daniel Biggs. I was at Westmead Pvt.

BB.
He is a good mate of my wifes boss.... Dr Kalman Piper, small world eh!

yeah it is, Gazz.
my wife worked with Daniel when he worked under Dr's Kohen and Goldberg...many years ago when she was a nurse.
Hi Andrew,

I’m so glad that your operation has gone well. You look in good spirits now that you have stopped counting!

Good news about the sling also, all the very best & have a speedy recovery.

Bye the way did Chris your brother give you your badge? Gave it to him a few weeks back down @ McCoy Park.

Ingo
Hi Ingo, thanks for the kind words.

Yes Chris did get it to me thanks. Hope to see you again soon.....it'll be a couple of weeks until I can drive.
UPDATE:

3 weeks post op. All progressing according to plan. Saw the specialist today, he said, "Definately no flying for another 6 weeks!"(It wouldn't have mattered last weekend). Fortunately he meant "real" flying, not RC (that's actually "real") flying. Drove the car for the 1st time today....15 minutes was enough...owwww.

Anyway, lots of physio to go & hopefully I'll be back at the field sooooooon.

Thank God for Phoenix. Smile
