Hi,
Yeah it's come out of nowhere really. Been shut up inside the house most of the day with the aircon going flat out and only recently looked out side! Oh well, doesn't matter, will have to try something for next time I get days off. Pretty sure I'm working this weekend again so hopefully it'll be next week sometime.

Well what can i say if it ain't the heat, the wind, then its that bloody thunderstorm above . Frown

I am seriously thinking of building some sort of all weather plane , rain proof, wind proof, storm proof, and of course most important pilot error proof.

Still keen though might just have to move around a bit when the lightning strikes and hold on to tree trunk so i don't get blown away and full wet weather gear on. and a portable air con by my side.
It could be workable i guess :?:

INDOOR FLYING
With all the bad weather I've been thinking about Indoor flying. As I understand it there are quite a few indoor meets around Sydney where a Gym or indoor basketball court is hired and aero-nuts like myself fly their small planes around a rather small circuit. Often a combination of radio control, free flight and helicopters (IR control is also popular). The height of the basket ball court is quite high which helps. 3D flying is also popular as the many youtube videos demonstrate. One important aspect of indoor flying is the almost perfect control of the weather, no wind except for agressive air conditioning.

It seems the organization I work for have an indoor basketball court available for hire for 3 hrs on a Wednesday night (6-9pm) for the sum of $45 inc gst. So my question is to club members is anyone interested in trying out indoor flying? The court is at Lindfield off the Pacific hyw on the north shore, parking not a problem. Note that most of the planes we fly at the Toontown field go too fast for an indoor venue of this size so u will need slower planes. I intend to fly a couple of planes I have brought form Hobbyking which are designed for backyard flying.

I have spoken to the Venue Management and they are happy to allow us to fly and I have asked them to double check the insurance issues but so far looks good.

I also would be interested to hear about any other indoor venues around Sydney you might know about, and any suggests, thoughts or experiences people have had with indoor flying.

Cheers Servo

Well, you can still spell "beer" and for that, I'm prepared to overlook any other transgressions.

I'm ready to have a crack at indoor flying - probably won't be ready to participate with a plane for a couple of weeks though, but definitely interested! Guaranteed stick time in conditions like that can't hurt in respect of getting skills levels up for the outdoor conditions. Nice work Kev!
