Archive: Flying this Weekend...

Howdy all
Flying this weekend may not be possible.
I just went down to the field to drop of a radio I picked up for a new member and walked in for a look.
The main runway is under 6 to 8 inches of water and litterally has ducks and other water birds frolicing in the lake.
So you wont be flying today and quite possibly tomorrow either. There is a lot of water running accross the field.

Guess that means it will be ideal conditions for the motor bikes

Yes, I had this same thought late last night ... they may try and make an effort tomorrow some time depending upon how quickly the lake drains off. Have to keep an eye out.

We went down for an explore and an excuse to visit bunnings onthe way home Wink.

Here's some photos. Unfortunately, although there's plenty of room for the bipe, I never did get around to putting the strut in place. I had it up real high and let Oscar have the controls with the warning that he needed to do tiny movements. Two corners later, the wing collapsed and we stood back to watch it plummet to the ground (luckily not the pond!).

If you're hoping for some fathers day flying maybe you'd better find another field.

Gday Steve /All

Interesting forecast following, the current synoptics are quite unusual thus resulting in the severe weather in Vic and South NSW and the protracted rain that occured today. I was surprised by Gazza's photos of the field, I did not think we had that much rain.
I am unsure about this forecast in regards to model flying tomorrow as the TAF today did not seem to entirely relate to what actually occured here at Toonie. I am going to post this TAF however would like to request the additional and totally learned input of Cpt Reitsma as to what he thinks will actually happen tomorrow. After all it's fathers day!!
Also..
Andrew, I'd like to work and learn from you in regards to getting a good weekend forecast system for the field, hope you are agreeable to this.

Hi Guys,

Depending on the weather & state of the field I am intending going down to the field after 1pm.

The boss has given me her blessing & all is OK.

Is anybody else considering on going down?

If someone is going down in the morning can they post some info about the field condition?

I have texted Chris & he has indicated he might be going down.

Hope to see you there guys & have a Happy Fathers day.

Yeah Good one Rob.
Field update.
Went down at 11.30 this morning to see how the field was recovering from the rain and I am happy to say that if it wasnt for this bloody wind. We could use the strip. It is 90 % dry. Still might get in a quick flight late today if this wind abates.

Rob,
thanks for your faith in my ability. Smile I arrived back from Perth at 6am this morning and the TAF indicated a potential hard time for the 767 landing at SYD...let alone a model!!!

To use my extreme wisdom in this matter, I'd say today was sunny and windy! Smile

As to getting a weather forecast system for the field, I'm sure there is something out there that we can access.

Gday Andrew

Yep, I am sure there is something out there, I am working on "combining" the YSBK YSRI and YSSY TAF's to try and get a better picture. The weather itself is not too hard, it's calculating the winds accurately that is giving me grief.

FYI I am flying up to Brizzy on QF508 (767) on thurs morning (9th), always love flying QF as the 767 is one cool machine, usually end up on VB's 37's. Back on fri morn on QF511, 737-800 for that sector.

Cheers
Rob B

Ahhhh, missed you by 1 day! I'm going up & back this Wednesday. Oh well, plenty more flights left in us both. Smile

Yep, I'm sure our paths will cross eventually, I am back and forth to BN regularly. Next time I see you will discuss the best way to TAF merge. Or, other options. I'll be able to talk heli's with you soon too, just got a good one off Gaz. Biggrin

I droped in for a quick fly this afternoon.
The ruway is compleley dry after last weeks deluge.
It is in urgent need of a good mowing.
The rain and spring warm weather has got the foliage on the move.
The grass is starting to play havoc with my landing gear, but all in all looking good for the weekend.
Might have to give Darren a ring and see if he will lend me the mower.

It would be great if we could manage to mow before the weekend it would benefit all

Maybe we can do something about on Friday afternnon - if Daaren cannot mow I would be happy to take a few hours off work,

Garry we could mow in the afternoon - are you free then?

What do you think we could take turns on the mower - I have used it before - depends on Darren?

Maybe Darren is free then - better than mowing in flying time in the weekend.

Darrens gonna mow Saturday morning

Any idea what time on Saturday Kieran.
It would certainly give everyone more flight time if it was done during the week or even at a Sparrows fart (that means early) on Saturday.
If Darren would like a break. I have my GOLD MOWER BLADES and am available to do it any afternoon this week after 3pm or any time Saturday morning after 7am.
Just trying to help
I dont however have a tow bar on the Clubby and would need said mower delivered to said paddock.
Cheers

It says its Penrith Base but It actually gets its infor from Prospct dam weather station, Sydney Station so its usually pretty accurate for seven hills area.

Only problem with the Prospect AWS is that it only updates 4 times a day if we're lucky. Better off with Fairfield/Horsley park.

Hi Guys,

Here's hoping tomorrow will be fine especially after last weekend effort.

I shall be looking forward to seeing all who are up for the sky & beyond.

Not too far beyond I hope - depends on my trasmitter & receivers.

All the best guys, see you in the morning.

Willy says that it should be 8 km/h morning and evening tomorrow though, so let's hope!

Was hoping to bring my new camera down to test out before Temora next week but
