Interesting example of an accidental midair that was filmed and analysed. Check out the
vid, and especially the discussion by davecee and SavageX89. It addresses the problem of assigning blame in a RC model midair. In this case there seems no clear way to attribute blame. I think that is the usual story, as its hard to anticipate the trajectory of nearby models when you are managing your own model.

Folks, moving away from flying for a while, so need to clear some stuff from the garage.  email me at robattard  at  gmail.com, if interested in any of the below.

I dont think there is anything super valuable, but I want to get a few bucks back in my pocket.

  • Spectrum DX7s   $70   couple of buttons sticky but otherwise works fine, good beginner kit, original packaging, will have an Orange receiver or two for it also.

  • Edge 540 1400mm, balsa frame foam covered, std size Metal gear servos, YEP BEC, 80amp ESC?, 52?? motor.  This is the pick, it's flown twice and not a scratch (as new).  It does fly really well, but is a bit under powered for aerobatics.  $130 (the electronics cost more than that). no receiver, or an orange receiver.

  • Extra 300 Balsa and film.  You may have probably seen me flying this, its a very good flyer, 3S flys ok or 4S for some good aero.  It has had a few dings, but repaired and still a very straight good looking flyer, I can find an orange receiver for it if you need. $100  (spare cowl and cockpit cover)

  • Hummer 3D foamy, flys ok, 3S good for 3D practice $50

  • I've got a box full of lipos, all of them are still ok (various), though havent been used in a while, held at storage charge, 3S and 4S,  1.5a, 2.2a, 3a, 5a.  Most are turnigy blue  $5 a piece

  • I've got  some boxes of extras like props, happy probably to give away to the buyers

  • A few of Orange DSX receivers and frsky, will probably keep a few of the frsky, but the orange (Spektrum DSM DSX) can go, also a 3-axis stabilising one good for trainer plane

  • Also got new unopened Tramp HV 5.8Ghz Video tx and a Foxeer Arrow mini FPV camera  $25 for both.
All dust on the planes is included for free!!
Email if anything interests you.

Hello members, I've decided to sell my DJI Phantom 3 Standard drone.
It comes with a carry bag, 4 batteries, spare set of props, camera filters, the controller is fitted with a tablet/large phone holder and 5dB antennea for longer range.

$500 for the lot.

I'm giving our club members first choice at this purchase if they want it, before I list it on other sites.

Regards Todd Hazell

This is a really cool system.
It works great with Ardupilot and if your a long way out flying FPV and suddenly your video dies
or you just loose orientation
you can just go into loiter or alt hold, Yaw around so you are pointing home, check your alt and fly it back just looking at your TX screen

It's pretty cool

It also allows you to log all the in flight data on your TX's SD card for easy analysis

No to mention how handy all the voice alarms and info is I have a 3 position switch set up to tell me speed and alt. It's very handy

Hi all.

Looking to build a simple quality kit with my kids and have read Mountain Models kits are very highly recommend.

Looking to pick up a Dandy ($59US) as this seems to be a great first balsa kit plane.

Question is does anyone know where and if these can be bought locally as the $100AUD postage is a deal breaker.

Any help would be appreciated.

G'day gents,

In line with the easing of social distancing guidelines and updated advice from our state delegated authority we will be reopening the flying field from tomorrow. The gates have been restored to the former combination and access is available to all current and prospective members. We do ask however ask that all non-current members do not visit the field without first making contact here on this forum and pairing up with a suitable member who can receive, advise and provide any necessary instruction during the visit.

While we are reopening we are yet to return to normal procedures and must still observe sensible precautions to ensure we all stay safe. These precautions are listed below:

* Anyone who is showing any of the symptoms listed above should refrain from visiting the McCoy Park Flying Field until suitably cleared of any possible infection.
* Everyone who does visit the field should, as a matter of caution, effectively treat yourself and others as if infectious.
* Do not touch the gate padlocks or flightbox if you do not have a decent hand sanitiser or equivalent on hand
* Do not park or fly in close proximity to each other
* Do not shake hands with anyone
* Do not share transmitters as the scum and fat filled serrated tips of our control stick would seem a perfect vector for transmission.
* Please ensure that all members and visitors sign the Field Attendance Register to so that effective contact tracing can occur should the need arise (we should all be doing this as a matter of procedure anyway).
* Please maintain a limit of 10 people at the field at any one time to in order to comply with current guidelines.
* Please be aware that we have divided flying time at the field into 5 blocks to facilitate scheduled visitation.

While we are operating under these restriction we ask that all members and visitors announce their intention to visit the on the Flying this Weekend thread.  Please note when doing so how many are scheduled to visit within each scheduled block prior to adding your post, and please ensure that you update your post should your plans change. Remember, we must stick to a maximum of 10 people per block, so if a block is full please schedule your visit at another time.

The 5 blocks will be as follows:

Block 1: Wednesday
Block 2: Saturday before 11am
Block 3: Saturday after 11am
Block 4: Sunday before 11am
Block 5: Sunday after 11am

If anyone has any questions please do not hesitate to post them below.

Thanks for your patience and understand during this challenging time.

I look forward to seeing you all down at the field over the coming weeks.

Happy flying,

j.
